eventually upped dose - after virus - swollen legs

Hi,

After contracting some virus at the end o f July, feeling like the PMR was flaring - and after much humming and ha-ing (sp) - I eventually upped my dose from 5.5mg to 10mg for a week, then 8.5 for a day, 7 ofr 3 days, then started 6 today.

My legs have been so swollen in that last two days and today they really won't go down. I have lay down with my legs up the wall and now put on support knee highs.

I also feel quite wobbly (dizzy) today in my head - and like I have fluid retention there too.

Any advice please.

My adrenal glands caused me to feel dizzy and wobbly. I have had fluid retention and thin skin from the steroids.

Thanks for this. I wonderered whether I only took 2mg this am instead of 6mg ??? I havent had swollen legs for months and months. - well not often - only if I sit at my desk too long. What mg are you on now?

I should 2mg instead of 6mg might make you feel pretty rough! Put your feet up and relax!! I am currently back on 2mg but I think I really need at least 2.5mg.

Is it likely you only took 2mg? I think some medical advice is called for if you don't feel well.

I have no idea actually. But took another 5 in case - really did not want to be dealing with an adrenal crisis of any sort.

Why would my legs be swelling again? Had fish and chips last night - from the chippy. I never do that and they salted it there. I eat very few processed or packaged goods and so only use a bit of sea salt. However they were swollen before that too. - its been about two days.

I have been walking a bit further (on my daily walk) than usual?

I will see how I feel later or tomorrow. What would you be concerned about?

Thank you.

I found that eating saltier food than I am used to at home when we were on holiday resulted in football feet after a few nights. That's one positive of Covid I suppose - no holidays and eating out!!! But I do notice if I eat processed meats (for example) I gain up to a couple of pounds with fluid retention for a couple of days until it is flushed out - doesn't go to my ankles though.

I remember having swollen feet and ankles when we were in southern Italy for a meeting years ago - suspect it had a bit to do with the temperatures! I used to lie on my back with my feet up the wall too!

Thanks for your input.

Can't think what caused it yesterday.

I do think that I have had less water too over the last few days.

When I was on higher Pred I often had swollen legs - but not had for a while now.

Im also at a new surgery - do not know the doctors and they dont seem to have a handle on PMR.

I am now taking 5mg up from 2.5 as felt had mild flare. Every 30 minutes I get up and exercise for 3 minutes. Have not had swollen legs as problem. Ankles mildly swollen once in a while when on higher dosage

Thanks for your input. I’m going to get up now from my desk - and bounce on my bouncer

That will be good for your eyes, too. They were not designed for screen work! We don't blink enough, these days, apparently.
