Having to wait.

Hi everyone who responded to my question, and many thanks! I saw the optician again as I didn’t want to make a fuss ,and she had another look at my eyes and her advice was to carry on with the drops for dry eye, but if I get any deterioration of vision which subsequently doesn’t improve, then to go to A&E. She has referred me as priority to Opthamology department, but they are only seeing very urgent cases at the moment. Thanks to all for your concern and advice. Take care.❤️

Suspected GCA is classed as an emergency and it should be treated just like a stroke or heart problem.

I would be heading off to A&E. Your sight is precious and it needs for suspected GCA to be excluded asap.

Once vision loss occurs it is gone - no getting it back.

Off you go............

" I didn’t want to make a fuss "

For someone with PMR or earlier GCA, having visual problems of any sort is worth making a fuss about.

Even if GCA is not suspected, which it doesn’t seem to be, any eye issues need to be treated a bit more urgently than your option seems to think. As I well know, things can escalate very quickly.

If I were you I would make a fuss! Your eyes aren't getting any better with the drops and you shouldn't have been asked to wait to see if your vision deteriorates and then wait again if it doesn't improve until you see an ophthalmologist. Your optician may know you have PMR but does she have any knowledge of the disease? I think not. You have two options as far as I can see: ring your optician and ask her to refer you NOW to ophthalmology or, preferably, go to A and E where you will see an eye specialist. Your eyes and your sight are precious, BPlady.

I think you're worth making a fuss over. Get to an opthamologist or A&E without delay.

Where do you live? Do you have an Eye casualty department near you.I really wouldn't accept something like that with the diagnosis you have.

Madness and really really is worth making a big fuss about.

as jinasc says.... off you go!
