Well, irritatingly I am in hospital with pneumonia! Complete pain - and I’m cross because my lovely GP said to wait until I was off Prednisolone before the vaccination. Four years later still on Pred. Am I right that the pneumonia vaccine is ok for people on steroids? Honestly! And I had a lovely day earlier in the week - who knew it would end in high fever and an emergency dash to A&E. On the plus die I am receiving incomparable treatment. Hey go - always look on the bright side of life 🎶. 😅

Bloomin’ Pneumonia
I know I had my pneumonia jab whilst I was on prednisolone with out a problem. Hopefully you will be home soon
So sorry to hear you're poorly. You must be feeling really fed up and pretty unwell too. Good you're being well looked after so you should make a steady and satisfactory recovery. No marathons for a while though!!😁I had both the flu and pneumonia vaccination last Autumn as both are safe to have when on prednisolone. No problems and no post-vaccination reactions.
Get well soon. I'll be thinking of you.
I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well...you have your attitude in great shape I see. Thankful that you are receiving good care. Soak up the care and get well 💖
So sorry to hear this, I hope you make a quick and complete recovery.
I didn't even meet the doctor I got a pneumonia shot from until I had PMR (she diagnosed me) and nothing at all was said about delaying vaccine. I have also in the last few years had annual flu shots and also received my ten-year booster without any question and she recommended Shingrix although I turned that down. She knew I'd be on low dose pred for a long time and I don't know why a vaccine should be delayed. We are all encouraged to get an annual flu shot after all! I can see logic in delaying immunization if one is temporarily on a high dose. When you are able, the GP needs a few pointed questions from you
Anyway, get well soon! 🌺
I have just had the non-live pneumonia jab, at my GP’s urging. She also said I would be getting a third booster COVID jab. I felt a bit seedy the day after but ok now. Get well soon! 🌻
Sending hugs and sympathy. I had the pneumonia jab when I was 50 due to other medical issues and twelve years before I started PMR so no help there but wanted to wish you well again soon and home again soon! Take care, S x
Sorry but glad you're getting better. The beastly disease creeps up horribly fast.I had a bad go in 2020 of " community aquired" pneumonia, also after a good day spent celebrating my birthday. However I had the vaccine just before diagnosis with GCA PMR about 4 years before being ill. I think that being on prednisolone makes one more susceptible to infections, one of its little side effects.
Mysteriously the consultant asked me if I kept birds or bats! I don't. I felt too ill to ask why!
Get well soon.
That sounds fine for someone who is taking pred for around 2 weeks after two weeks the adrenal gland goes to sleep that is why most GPs are always worried about long-term users.
Many people are on pred for life, some of them children. So does this mean they never get any vaccine products at all?
Four years on pred - long wait - and could possibly be for the rest of your life.
Sorry to hear that - must have appeared very quickly? Get well soon.
Hi Thelmarina So sorry to hear about the Pneumonia but glad they are treat it & you well 🙏🏼

Get Well Soon

I had pneumonia jab 12th Nov 2020 with no ill effects, I was on 8.5mg of Pred. Since then 2 Covid jabs with only a sore arm for a day. Hope you feel better soon.
Sending virtual hugs, hope you are back home soon.xxx
Get well and get out soon.
Sorry to hear this.... It's tough being ill and away from home... It's great you are being looked after well, a bonus in these challenging times... Feel better soon... 💐💐
Here's hoping that you are soon on the way to recovery. It sounds as if you have had an awful time and I'm glad that you seem to be getting better.
You are all so great and comforting. We are strangers but we know all the shades of play in this extraordinary, life interfering disease. We know what each other is going through from first hand experience and we form a band of empathy and resistance 😅Marching on...xxx
