More interesting information. Even having had two OAZ jabs until there are more comprehensive trials and information about where we stand I will not be making any major changes to my present life style.

Morning Peter. That's really reassuring news but like you, I too will still be acting sensibly and mindfully of the fact that we're not immune to the virus....just better protected against severe illness developing.

To be honest....I don't think I'll ever again be as dismissive of.....people standing next to me, people coughing next to me, people touching goods & products I may want to buy! My whole perception of the ease of transmission of any disease or infection is now in a permanently heightened state and I will forever be much more vigilant when it comes to hygiene and sanitisation. If that makes me sound like I have OCD then maybe I do! 😄

Have a good day and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Good morning. If what we feel we have to do means we are going be labelled with OCD then so be it. I'm not going to have a problem with that. I listened to an interesting discussion about the flu yesterday. It seems to have totally disappeared this year, they assume because of all the precautions that everyone has been taking with social distancing etc. However, the experts, are really worried that next winter it will return with a vengeance as they won't have had a chance to update the vaccine. So another bit of excitement for us to look forward to!!!!!

I saw that being discussed on the news yesterday too. It's a little worrying but I'll carry on doing what's right for me and keep my fingers crossed.

I had real flu 12mths before I was diagnosed with PMR and had never felt so poorly. Wasn't very nice at all.

Not OCD, Kendrew....common sense.

Thankyou. Yes.....you're right. It's sometimes so hard to make other people recognise my concerns though....they're actually the ones who sometimes make me feel uncomfortable about wiping things down or being hesitant when touching things, etc. They can make me feel like they perceive me as being obsessive. I still do what I feel is right for me though and try to laugh it off. My closest friends understand completely.

Feeling you are being judged is uncomfortable. Like you, my close friends and family are supportive. I do get the odd blank look/short silence with others when I say that I'm still being very careful. I explain once and say that clinical trials on autoimmunity are ongoing and leave it at that. I've got past it now and think it's their problem, not mine. Still somewhat frustrating though.

That's a good attitude to have. I must take a leaf out of your book and not feel so self conscious.

I saw it discussed in the ITV News last Evening & the Reporter said, the lower levels of Protection in the AZ should improve in time1, because we have been using Pfizer longer there’s more data on that.

2, more elderly were vaccinated therefore they may have lower immune systems.

So he seemed very positive.....

Fingers Crossed 🤞🏻

On a personal note - my highly allergic son is going for his first vaccine today, he’s 38 - the advice being No AZ for the Under 40’s he can’t have Pfizer because of his Allergies, we’d settled on AZ but will have to wait & see what they say today. I’d much rather he had his in a Hospital Setting but he is at Shropdoc a GP Surgery & he’s taking his Epipens 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hope all goes well with your son. My 36yr old daughter is being offered the AZ which surprised me as I understood under 40s would have the Pfizer. I assume she won’t have a choice. She’s not concerned though. ‘The best jab is the one in your arm ‘ she quoted.

Charlotte will distract you! She’s lucky to have such a lovely granny xx

Other countries are using the AZ one for young people - here they are running late evening pop-up Vax clinics in the town centres for young people and they are being a tremendous success with very high take up rates.

Thanks for info. The goalposts seem to move from week to week. My daughter's baby is only a few weeks old and she is a bit tired and anaemic after a postpartum haemorrhage. I feel very protective of her.

Thanks, l wanted to go with him - You know what they say about Mother’s of Son’s! He’s spiked my guns by asking me to look after Charlotte! 😂

Yes this was quite a good news story about the efficacy of the vaccines. Well done scientists!

A less good news story about the actual spread of the 'Indian variant' was released, one might think bizarrely or one might think cynically, at 11pm last night during the Eurovision Song Contest...

The scientists appear to be very concerned today. Sadly it looks like certain people aren’t learning from their past mistakes...

Haven’t looked at the News yet this morning 🤦🏻 - lm going to build a Duplo (Big Lego) Fire Station instead - Charlotte’s coming at lunchtime 😉

Bcol profile image
Bcol in reply toMrsNails

Duplo's good, not so easy to tread on. With the corresponding painful result!!!!

Highlandtiger profile image
Highlandtiger in reply toMrsNails

Probably a wise move tbh. It’s not on the BBC yet but in the Observer and virtually all the scientists who regularly comment on Covid are tweeting about it, (some who are on Sage, Independent Sage and other epidemiologists who I tend to trust).

Enjoy your afternoon with the wee one. Another vaccine bonus for you!

PS. Hope your son is OK after his jab.

......and like Peter said.....watch your feet on the duplo!Double the size so easier to see but double the pain if you do stand on it!!😯😯

The other day I saw a report of a survey with CEV patients - a majority of us are still taking the same precautions we did during shielding. It seemed to bother the authors - can't say it surprised me - I was quite glad to hear it! If wearing a mask in crowds makes us less likely to catch something - that's fine by me!

OH has hardly used antibiotics this winter - just decided he needed to last week but heaven knows where he caught something as he hasn't been out.

Doesn't surprise me either, think the authors probably need a reality check.
