I have been on prednisolone for seven months starting on 15mg been slowly tapering down got to 6mg then started getting pain at the back of my legs and arms went back up to 7mg without any relief spoke to g.p. who advised me to go to 10mg but the pain is no better and finding it very difficult to cope. Due a blood test tomorrow has anyone else had similar problems?

BORDER COLLIE
The usual suggestion for dealing with a flare that appeared after reducing too far is to add 5mg to the dose where the flare occurred for a week to 10 days - so your GP isn't far off. It is surprising how much difference even 1mg more can make. I'd try 12mg for a few days - because you have reduced very quickly to get from 15 to 7 in 6 months, Under 10mg you need to slow down a bit and for some people 1mg at a time is too much. I suspect even 7mg was on the borderline and if it was, you will need to get things under control before trying 7mg again.
And probably you need to be resting - not trying to cope.
Sounds just like me! I’ve just started reducing from 10 to 9 again. I had got to 7 but a gradual build up of pain and a particular type of pain made me realise it was a flare/PMR. Going to 10 immediately helped. And I have border collies!
