I Just started taking this product for my bones. I have many fractures and am scared of all the drugs available to build bone. This product claims to build bone in 6-12 months without all the awful, dreadful side effects.
I was wondering if anyone else is taking it? I have read a lot about calcium tablets and find, for me, that is not the way to go. Most calcium is made from rocks. When I was taking the calcium I had a UTI 3-4 times a year. Since I stopped taking it, I have not had a uti in 1&1/2 years.
If anyone has found anything else (not Meds) that has proven to build bone, I sure would appreciate hearing about it.
Have a wonderful day

By the time we have got to PMR/GCA age it is a bit late to replace large amounts of bone density loss solely by diet and exercise though some improvement is possible and HeronNS improved hers with supplements and exercise. The basis of good bone density is laid down in our early years, achieving its peak at about age 30.
However - don't assume that a supplement is safe just because it is a supplement. They are not regulated in any way - so there is no guarantee it is what you think it is or that it is in the dose claimed.
Hi Linny,I take New Chapter Bone Strength for calcium, K1, K2, mg. I do take Strontium Boost but only 1/2 the suggested dose. Apparently you should be careful because it can affect heart and arteries just like too much calcium. You should also be careful taking it if you have high blood pressure.
So, the issues appear to be there are not a lot of studies supporting it’s use and it lays down denser bone than calcium so it can affect the dexa scan numbers. I’m not sure if that means better bone.
I don't think it means better bone. However, the bone med. fosamax builds bone from the outside making the bone weaker in the long run. Plus all the other horrible side effects that are possible. I contacted the company and spoke with them at length and feel very comfortable taking both supplements for 3 months and see how I feel. I will reassess how I feel about it then. Probably do more research in that time. I really like the idea of the calcium not being the calcium made from rock. Takes quite a load off of my mind deciding not to take the bone meds at this time. Hope and pray it is the right decision.
I agree, the meds offered shut down the osteoclasts so you are essentially putting new bone on top of bone they would have cleared out. I think of it as painting a house and putting wood putty and paint on top of rotten wood. I will also continue to take strontium just at 1/2 dose. I am also more mindful now of using more weights and things like heel drops to strengthen bone.
