But not really. I havent posted for a long time and thought I would check in and fill you all in. It was so great to have your support. We came back from the holiday from hell and I arrived home with Influenza. I soon got over that and life resumed as normal. However what were we thinking moving into a gorgeous old house in a little country town with a huge cottage garden. So of course we had to move again.
That move nearly killed us. We are now in a small house with easy to manage garden, thank heavens. I was taking 5mgs for months and gradually went down to 2mgs. In the middle of covid I went into hospital to have a Pace maker fitted and during that 2 blockages were discovered and 2 stents were inserted. I suppose it was good they discovered the blockages. About a week ago I stopped taking pred and thought I was over pmr but no. Horrible pains around my hips and stiffness so back on pred which is working so resigned to take pred for ever. Oh well.
My question is after doing extensive reading I think lo carb is probably the best weight loss for me but what can I have for breakfast. I feel guilty eating so much bacon and eggs. Any thoughts would be welcomed. Also I have to commiserate with you all in England. You have endured a terrible lockdown, hope it will be over soon. Best wishes Cheryle

I don't eat breakfast but I would have no qualms about bacon and egg every day ...
Unfortunately it is something that does tend to centre on eggs but I always say stop thinking Anglo-Saxon breakfasts and look to other countries! My absolutely favourite breakfast is smoked haddock and poached egg - very Scottish! Continental breakfasts use cheeses and cold meats, smoked salmon and other fish, salad stuff, especially cucumber, quark and cottage cheese, yoghurts, berries. Mushrooms, avocado, low carb sausages,
Google low carb breakfasts - there are recipes for low carb pancakes and muffins if you are so inclined.
Thank you. What great suggestions. I just couldnt think straight. I would like to skip breakfast and make it brunch then have an early dinner. Thanks again.
Pre-pred I ate a huge bowl of cereal every morning. Post pred, going on for six years this summer, I started eating an orange, 1/3 c pumpkin seeds and two fried eggs (olive oil, no bacon). And, of course, always a mug of tea with 2% milk. Latest blood results show nothing untoward (except the usual highish CRP).
I have a blender drink with vanilla protein powder, spinach, berries, rice bran, and nut oil every morning. It is yummy and satisfying. I.lost the 60 lbs I gained on 18 years of pred.
I have been on Prednisone for over 2 months and using a low carbohydrate, high fat diet, (Keto) have been able to lose about 10 lbs while taking prednisone.
There's a lot of new medical studies showing that saturated fats aren't as bad for us as processed carbohydrates and sugars are.
