Taking prednisone with food

Hi I take my prednisone about 8am , Is it really necessary to eat before prednisone if you taking omeprozol twice a day.

Not necessary but a lot of us do, to be in the safe side, in fact l’ve just ‘ordered’ a buttered digestive with my cuppa tea 😉 l used to take a spoonful of yogurt but not at the moment.

Hi. I have to take Pred with food despite gastro resistant Pred and omeprazole. But many don’t need to. You could try without and see how it goes. If you have any discomfort, then you will need to take it with food. Or you could just take it with a spoonful of yoghurt anyway like many also do.

It’s sensible to (patient information leaflet advises) - doesn’t need to be a big meal - just a spoon of yoghurt or a piece of fruit would be enough. Maybe a glass of milk or a smoothie? Just something for the stomach acids to work on.

I guess you’re not a breakfast person?

My surgery has written on my notes - “One to be taken in am with food” so I assume it is a good idea, to improve absorption. I just have a slice of hard cheese at about 2am.
