Life after Pred

I an weening off pre now down to 1mg but I cannot get well I have had bronchitis twice now on my second lot of antibiotics is this normal.

Usually that problem improved at such low doses - are they sure they are using the right antibiotic? Have they done a chest x-ray to be sure it is bronchits and no something else?

I often have bronchitis twice or 3 times each winter & have seen specialists. However mine always occurs after catching an infection from others, & we now shield every winter & ive been free for 2 winters now. Before I was on Pred for PMR I was given short sharp doses of Pred for bronchitis which helped...completely different dosage & time span than for PMR. I now take an antibiotic for five months of each year to help ward off bronchitis. If I were you, I’d be phoning my doctor this morning! Hope it improves, & yes, it ruined 3 Christmases in a row, each bout lasted 6 weeks, & was miserable!

I am allergic to penicillin so my normal antibiotics, depending on part of body in trouble are metronidazole, erythromycin & others of that ilk. The antibiotic used for five months is quite different, it’s been not taken 3 days a week, but over a long period of time. I guess you will be taking penicillin for your bronchitis...sadly, I don’t know anything about that since I came out in a dreadful rash aged 18!
