Down to 4mg of Pred

I can't remember how long I've been tapering from 90mg (or was it 80? ) It's been a bit rough at times but now I find myself at just FOUR mg. Anyone know if these purple blotches that keep appearing at random will ever go away??

They diminish certainly, but I still get the occasional occurrence if I’ve banged arm or hand ...after being off Pred for almost 5 years.

The Pred thins the skin, but so does age!

Don’t think that just because you’re a man, doesn’t mean you can’t use hand or body lotion! Especially with all the hand washing!

It depends on the person I think - purpurae and petechiae are common amongst older people anyway as a function of aging skin. I find they recurr in the same places so I assume the capillaries remain fragile once damaged.

You've done pretty well!

I have been getting the purple patches ever since I started pred. Sometimes I have looked as if I had been in a fight with a wild animal. They still just come and go, so in my case at 2.5mg they still happen.

Try a good brand of artificial tan lotion, it’s really good.

I'm on 4mg David and after nine years I still get the blotches - they're smaller now though and don't bleed.

Not what you're looking for?
