Astrazenica vaccine reaction

guineapigharriet profile image

I too had a bad reaction to this jab on 11 February. Initially, 10 hours later, light flu' symptoms experienced, followed two hours on by intense shivering & feeling freezing cold, together with a feeling of nausea & a fleeting sharp headache. In bed all the following day feeling so weak. Shoulders & arms ached badly for several days & sore. My husband, same time, place & vaccine, had no symptoms, not even a sore arm. I'm okay now. Reported symptoms to GP Surgery & will re-try yellow card site.

This seems a very frequent reaction; I had it and have heard it from several people most of whom have reported it to the Yellow Card system so they should be aware now.

I have weak limbs today that I didn’t know whether stemmed from GCA/LVV or the vaccine ( AZ). My vaccine was last Friday. I have been feeling dizzy and I vomited once last Sunday. Very odd.

Sorry to hear about your bad reactions. I only had a mild headache and slightly tender arm and my husband, like yours, no symptoms at all. It seems to vary a lot really. Wonder why.

Snap, bad chills and a headache. I never get headaches. Started 8 hours after the jab and lasted for 3 or 4 hours. All OK the following day apart from effects of lack of sleep.

My husband had exactly the same, starting around 9 hours after the injection. No sore arm, but took to his bed with shivers and flu like symptoms. He’s never I’ll !!!!

I had mine over a week ago with no reaction at all. Yesterday the injection site became inflammed with no other symptons.

I think that will be said to be a common reaction from the anecdotal reports filtering through from my friends, family, villagers and acquaintances. It also says those particular symptoms are common on the sheet. My live in father-in-law was the same.

Me too, had mine 10.30 last Saturday by 8pm was freezing cold, next day shoulders and arms ached, spent all day in bed too. Reassuring to know I’m not the only one to feel like that

Was exactly the same myself. Next door neighbour (ex husband) had no reaction whatsoever.. Knew there was a reason why I left him ..............!!!

Haha I Keep Trying to get mine to move next door - or even the other end of the house would do ... separate kitchens and bathrooms would be quite acceptable, but so far it’s not working 🤔🙄

We sold a biggish house in the NE of England - bought by a couple who lived next door to each (not married). I couldn't understand why - I'd have knocked a door through and saved all that money and effort buying and moving ...

Yep, I think a bit of solo time and space is good for the soul - and a sole use kitchen and bathroom just a dream 😁. Not too worried about other rooms although TV schedules can be an irritation too, thankfully we have several rooms with TVs in so I can escape the interminable Golf and car renovation programmes 🙄. This lockdown is probably blowing a lot of minor irritations up into big annoyances though 😜

I suppose I do - we have an ensuite shower room and a small bathroom - so effectively we have one each (I let him use my shower) and I have sole use of the kitchen by default, he can't/won't cook. We have 3 rooms, 3 TVs and multiple computers for watching UK TV too. No golf - winter sport. For me ;)

I think we sound quite similar ‘in theory’ .... but you’re more organised implementing solutions 😁. We do have a couple of spare shower/bathrooms available but all my ‘stuff’ is in the current en-suite and there’s an ongoing rolling refurbishment programme/project in the building site that I call home, so, over the years I’ve got myself into a habit of just using the bathroom attached to my current bedroom as we move round the house while the work is being done - mainly as the floorboards have a habit of being constantly lifted in the hall or landings or other rooms while pipes and electrics are being rerouted, so I’d be taking my life in my hands going out there when still a bit sleepy as the ‘routes’ are often different😱 ... it’s been a peripatetic and chaotic existence for so long, I’ve never really settled properly in any particular room for several years ... the main bedroom & en suite has been ‘derelict’ now for about 6 or 7 years even though when we moved out of it, I was ‘promised’ it would only be for 6 or 9 months - while it was reconfigured - but things/plans changed 🙄although it is actually in hand now - at long last - the bath has been brought out of the storage it’s been in since it was bought over 6 years ago, and is sitting in the bedroom ready to be installed in the bathroom when the underfloor heating is laid and a floor put down,so there is progress on that front 🙄.

As for the kitchen, OH does his own breakfast & lunch and makes an inordinate mess in the process, but then is in such a rush to get back to the renovations that I usually have to clear it all up before I can start my ‘brunch’... before lockdown there was often various tradesmen needing an endless supply of tea/coffee all day too, but now it’s the double edged sword of no hot & cold running workmen, but much slower progress as OH does everything himself, ... messily, noisily, and sometimes grumpily as he’s usually knackered🙄

Sorry, I just really need to rant sometimes 🤦‍♀️. To make it relevant to the site, I do think all this stress has had a huge influence in my development of PMR 🤪

We have done up several building sites in our life - now thoroughly enjoying our tiny newbuild flat with a view of mountains!! We did a big house in Scotland bit by bit and I did the last thing just months before we moved to England - but it was the thing that actually made all the rest work so much better! Nothing more complex than removing a window from the former outside wall between the formal dining area and the openplan wintergarden/kitchen and putting doors in its place. So when we started on the next project I said it was being done NOW, all of it. It still took 2 years but it was much easier on the nerves. Especially since the biggest bit was building onto the gable end which was all done from outside until the door from old to new was knocked through behind a carefully taped plastic sheet!

Wow there are so many parallels - and it’s great to communicate with someone who’s been through it and understands, except you’ve learned by the previous mistakes and I’ve never really got on top of taking control of schedules 🤦‍♀️. And you’ve obviously made the right choice now - I aspire to living in a modern ‘box’ as my OH would refer to it 🙄, sans workmen!! In fact we (I made him) bought an apartment on a golf resort in Spain a few years ago as a bolt hole which I adore - even though I don’t golf - but it’s very sociable and I usually spend a bit more time there than my OH can as he’s so busy at home with the renovations. However I’ve not managed to get there for well over a year now which is maybe why I’m so disgruntled now☹️ but hopefully once the vaccines take effect we (or at least I) might manage it. Thanks for your insights in managing the situation from another viewpoint. I’m inspired to start thinking about how to manage the situation better instead of giving in to it🤔

I have a friend with a villa in the south of Spain - she and her mother lived and worked there for years. She can tell you how many days it is since she was there ...

Sounds so like my experience... I’ve struggle massively with the yellow card site too. It’s not user friendly at all!!! . I can’t get it to send my report - maybe it’s my phone - I need to try it on a proper computer I think 🤔

So I just received my first dose on Thursday May 6th. The day of injection I was fine. no pain, no issues. The second day was miserable. Friday I woke at 5 am with a sever headache and nausea . I took some ibuprofen and decided it is only the vaccine i can go to work. During my day i stayed nauseas and could not eat. My headache by lunch kicked in to overdrive. I started to have chills and could not get warm. I got very emotional and wanted to cry but this was probably due to my body feeling so weak. By the end of my shift my vision was blurred, I was ready to quit my job, and would have rather die than continue with anything else. I managed to drive home. When I arrived I hardly had the strength to stand up and walk to the door. I got in side and basically collapse. I took some more meds and laid down to rest. My head was still pounding and for me keeps me from sleeping. I took a Zofran for my stomach and about 5 hours later my fever broke and I could eat a small bowl of soup. I barely held it down... I went to bed and slept. The next day ( Saturday) I still had a headache but not as severe and the worst of it was over. Or so I thought. My arm started to swell, hot to the touch at injection site and at this time was the size of a marble and was painful. The next day (Sunday) My arm was swollen even more. I had a lump the size of a golf ball on my arm and even my shirt hurt the site It was bearable but painful. Today on Monday the site has spread out and is now a baseball. needless to say I checked in with the physician on site at my job and he doesn't know what to do lol. He gave me ibuprofen and Tylenol to take at the same time 3 times a day hoping it will stop the swelling and help with the pain... So this is my last few days since my injection. Not sure if this will help anyone or if anyone else has had the same reaction but mine has not been good.

My granddaughter had a similar reaction for several days but not the lump on the arm - she is asthmatic but nothing else.
