Nausea before diagnosis.

I was just wondering if anyone on here had nausea before they were diagnosed? For over a year, I was awakened almost everyday at 4am with severe nausea. After many tests and doctor visits, they removed my gallbladder, although I had no stones. At the time, I also had neck and shoulder pain, but assumed it was OA, because of my age. The pains eventually became unbearable and led to full blown PMR, which was diagnosed after I told the doctor in the emergency room what I thought I had, thanks to the internet. My blood tests showed high elevations of inflammation, and was immediately put on methylprednisolone.

I woke up the next morning feeling like a new person. No pain and no nausea. That was about 16 months ago. I am now decreasing, but have flares when I try to go down too quickly. Thanks to this group, I am learning, and now know it will be years for me. My rheumy goes along with whatever I want. I live in the US, and I don’t think doctors know much about PMR, but I was wondering about the nausea.

My severe PMR came on dramatically on a long haul flight to Australia, with vomiting, followed by all the usual pains and stiffness. I will be forever grateful to Korean Air for dealing with this kindly and efficiently . I had a couple of bouts like this before I was finally diagnosed in early 2016. Like you, my response to Prednisalone was miraculous.I am really sorry that doctors followed this red herring with you and removed your gallbladder.

I do know of a couple of people who suffered nausea in the later stages of undiagnosed PMR - that was progressing to GCA.

This study from the UK mentions nausea as a symptom of PMR in the introduction - so obviously it happens often enough for even doctors to be aware ;)

I really went off my food before I was diagnosed because I felt nauseous. I actually lost quite a lot of weight.
