I do not have a rheumatologist to ask this off, but has anyone with PMR already had the vaccine or can when even take it while on prednisone. If we can not have the vaccine, is their any recommendations being put out there, such as weaning off of the pred in order to be vaccinated. Much thanks

PMR snd covid 19 vaccine
There are several on the forum who have had the vaccine and it is highly recommended that we have it. It may not work as well as in someone who isn;t on pred but it will put you in a better place should you meet Covid 19. And no, do NOT wean of the pred - that would increase your risk not improve it. It isn't any different than having the flu jab.
HiI would go for the vaccine.A consultant who leads the cancer immunology team at Southampton said he would advise his patients to have it,even if their immune system has been mucked about with steroids and other drugs.I had the Pfizer jab yesterday as am a healthcare worker- mild sore arm that’s all. Am currently 3 mg Pred.As PMR Pro says better to have vaccine in controlled conditions than to catch Covid!
Ditto for me...on 3.5 mg and had 1st jab last Wednesday. 😁😷
I asked my rheumatologist this question around 2 weeks ago. He said absolutely have it. Covid has the potential to be dar worse than any flare the jab might cause.
No advice to wean off either. Go for it when you are called 🙂
I am on 5.5mg of Prednisolone, had Covid vaccine last night and delighted to get it.
Yup, had the Pfizer jab ten days ago. Diarrhoea at night and a sore arm next day. I was delighted to have a reaction as it shows something is working!!! I am on 8 mg Pred.
I’m getting my first one on Monday. Am I concerned? A little, but think it’s the best thing to do to keep me and those around me safe
Hello ! Yes had my jab 11 days ago (currently on 6mg pred) had a bit of a sore arm for a day or so but no other side effects...had pfizer. I feel very fortunate to have had the vaccine im 56 I've been working all through the pandemic (gp reception) feeling excited that things will soon get back to normal for all x
Of course we can have it why wouldn't we?
