I suspect that they have revised their concerns about being on pred increasing the risks associated with Covid - since now corticosteroids are key tools in managing serious Covid infections. I think it is particularly important that we are in a position to take all the appropriate safety measures consistently but whether we are still entitled to shielding measures I don't know. BoJo said shielding was stopping - but how that will mix with a 2nd wave and local lockdowns I don't understand.

I suppose it may come under normal adjustment in the workplace to comply with disability regs?

Laugh or cry or have a nap. Definitely a nap 🛌.

I think it also depends on your dose of steroids. I am on 5mg and have type 2 diabetes and am considered vulnerable but not extremely vulnerable

I still find Government advice confusing which puts all of us who are shielding under the same umbrella. Previously (August) I asked my rheumatologist what was his advice for me and he said,"Stay as you are, we don't know enough about this virus yet." (For me that is not going into people's homes or have them into mine; visits in the garden are ok with appropriate distancing, etc.) I am having a face to face consultation on Thursday and will ask again now that the rules are changed. However, my working days are long gone but I understand your concerns. You are entitled to ask to see your employer's/manager's workplace risk assessment and measures to protect you from Coronavirus. Don't be anxious about requesting this: it's your health and well-being that's important.

I would want to feel confident that my workplace was Covid secure and that every precaution was being taken to protect the workforce and the public. We are really at no more risk today than we were yesterday. I can’t see things normalising until well into 2021 at the earliest. I think the name of the game is adapting and living with the thing until we can have a safe vaccine. If I was well enough to work I would. If I was ordered to stay at home I would. The masks, the hand washing, washing work clothes, keeping my workspace clean would all be second nature. Stay safe!
