Hi,now 66 been diagnosed pmr 2 1/2 years now, started on 30 mg,felt better after 36 hours, slowly got down to 5mg with no real problems, now on 3.75 and 2.5 alternate days, not too bad most days,if I do have pain I take a painkiller maybe once a week, problem is I live in Greece and we only have 5mg tabs so it's going to be difficult to go quite exact low doseage as I have to cut tabs, have excellent rheumy so very lucky compared with some people, pmr and others quite rare here but she studied and worked in sweden, can phone as and when I like and get appointments easily,so not all bad.

How exact the dose is doesn't really matter - all that matters is that the new dose is slightly smaller than the old one. Using the DSNS taper very slowly also helps - part of the reason for developing it was to make it possible to taper with enteric coated pred which was only available in 2.5 and 5mg doses and can't be cut.

Here in Italy we have chemists who will make up accurate doses of drugs in capsules after grinding up large dose tablets - maybe you have such chemists in Greece?
