Esophageal spasms, GERD, coughing up white mucous - PMRand/or Pred

Has anyone had this? I have always had GERD and take omneprazole. I am struggling between 4 -3.5 mg Pred but these spasms have been increasing and I am sleeping sitting up. Avoiding most of the acidic culprits but difficult for the constipation IBS I also have without juices and fruits. Can PMR inflame the esophagus? Our Ambassador reminds us that it is not always the Pred but can also be PMR. Is it also the Pred - been on it 2 years and GERD got a lot worse about 1 1/2 years ago? Anyone know any good natural remedies to add to this mix to treat the burning and coughing, pain and spasms? Someone advised Gaviscon Advance.Thank you all for your advice and being there!

According to my daughter who works in the specialist endoscopy suite those are typical findings in a case of GERD and if they are worsening you need to be investigated by the G/I people.

Are you on any other medications?

I will try and reach gastro. Have had endoscopy in the past -not for several years now. Had esophagus stretched as well. But because of COVID don't want to go to hospital and I also had a vassal vagal reaction last time during procedure and have had lots of palpitations and bp issues of late so am fearful to do it. My gastro is big on procedures and sometimes I would just like to try a meds first. I take omneprazole - now 2x day and simethicone, occasional Linzess, and antacids as needed and my Pred and probiotics.

Thank you!!

The symptoms sound a bit too severe to leave for too long. The trouble with oesophageal damage is that it can creep up and if left untreated can become quite serious, Covid or not. Clearly the stomach meds aren’t holding it any more but they do need to see what they are dealing with.

If it is any consolation they will only do it if they think they need to because it is a high risk procedure for THEM as it creates aerosols. But it isn't getting better is it?

Have you ever had an endoscopy? It would be good to know what damage may have occurred to the oesophagus.

Any chance you now have Covid? These symptoms have been reported by many with so called mild symptoms.

Re COVID I don't have fever etc. I have been super cautious but I guess it may be possible. Have been wearing N95 mask for all doctor contact and have groceries delivered.

Thank you!!

I was just wondering, have you attempted to go on a strict anti GERD diet? No gluten, wheat? Even so far as no grains except quinoa?
