I have run out of 2.5 mg tablets would it be ok to half 5 mg tablets

Yes, so long as they are plain white uncoated variety.

Thank you they are plain white and scored in the middle . Just for a few days till I get my prescription renewed .

Do you use enteric coated tablets (5mg red and 2.5mg brown) or plain white tablets? (2.5mg plain tablets may be pale yellow or orange I think)

Enteric coated tablets shouldn't be cut as that exposes the stomach lining to the pred which makes the exercise rather pointless.

They are plain white and scored in middle

If they are scored they are designed to be broken/cut - no problem. Do they have a convex surface? If so, put one on a hard surface and place your thumbs on opposite sides of the score, close to the edges. Press hard - and the tablet should break pretty evenly. I do it every day with one of my tablets.

I would in an emergency but try to get a supply asap, we can be very dose sensitive.

I use a razor blade to cut mine.. works well!

You can buy a pill cutter at the chemist. I halve a 5 and add a 1 for 3.5mg.
