Yesterday I rose from bed and found I could not put weight on my right leg because of pain in my knee. Have any of your experienced Avascular necrosis? Or could this be something else? Thanks oh and later in the day it has felt a sensation of numbness below and above that knee.

Have any of you experienced Avascular necrosis of the knee?
When that happened to me last year it turned out that the RA had caused the top of my tibia to break and I had to have it repaired and that knee replaced.
Yes,I have this in my shoulder and require a shoulder replacement.it did not come on suddenly but over 2 years starting from indistinct shoulder and arm pain [saw physic etc] to severe pain and disability..can't use arm.the condition accelerated rapidly in past month or so.Diagnosed by careful investigations including blood tests,x-rays,ct scan and I'm due an m.r.i.scan next week to examine inside the bone structure etc. However it is obvious to see on X-ray.Get your knee examined thoroughly, but I don't think AVN appears suddenly.
I have to say ther are probably a lot of things more likely than avascular necrosis! Whatever - if it is that bad you could justify a visit to the ED for an x-ray and you definitely need one to rule it out/identify what it is.
