As some of you may know, I have had both knees and hips replaced in the last 2 years. I had my left hip done in September last year and, more recently have been recovering from the right knee replacement. As I have been exercising more, I have noticed new pain in my left hip. Just above the scar, there is an extremely sensitive area when I touch it. I also found that on walking today, I did have what felt like the old hip pain.
But, I haven't got my own hip any more! It is metal and plastic! I am wondering if I still have a bursa there and it could be inflamed. Does anyone know if the bursa would still be there?
If it is bursitis, what is the best treatment for it?

Thank you for those links. They are much better than the ones I could find! Now the problem is what to do about it. My GP has already told me today that he may have great difficulty in referring me back to Dr. Hughes ( Rheumatologist) for a review. He said that referrals are being triaged now. A couple of years ago, there was no problem. I may have to go privately- again.
Those are very useful. She writes so well and made me laugh a few times! What a lovely orthopaedic surgeon she must be! I am going to ring my surgeon today.
