Flare in heels

Just wondered whether anyone has had a flare at the bottom of their heels. Both of mine are flaring at the moment - walking is painful and difficult, combined with a flare in my right thumb and soft pad and shoulders.

Thanks in advance.

I do have painful heels and have had for some months, totally bilateral. I didn’t put it down to a PMR flare though. I suspect that it is something else. PMRPro has sent useful links to me about possible causes of heel pain ( ‘this morning). In my post about my ankles giving way. I recommend you have a read.

You need to talk to SheffieldJane - she has sore heels! I gave her a couple of links

tendonopathy in plantar fascia and or Achilles can cause heel pain, even when there is not yet pain in those areas.

So is it not related to PMR (I have palindromic rheumatism.), even though I am having flares in other joints which started at the same time?

I believe plantar fasciitis is more common in PMR than non-PMR patients though I'm not sure where I saw that.

Does palindromic rheumatism have any specific features other than the "wandering" aspect? Does it attack attachments between tendons and joints?

It affects the joints and can affect the tendons, whether it attacks the attachments between them I don't know. , I know I am posting in a forum for PMR but I have only found one forum for PR in Facebook, and it isn't perfect.

Yes, I haven't forgotten. Just wondered - the only other person I know with PR had it for years undiagnosed, it went into remission for a while but returned as a specific form of inflammatory arthritis. Just wondered if that was a general sort of rule.

It is probably related. Plantar fasciitis is also common in those with psoriatic arthritis too!

I had that, turned out to be plantar fasciitis. Steroid injections directly into the feet sorted it. Mine felt as though I was treading on a marble or lego brick but was also in the balls of my feet! I threw away several pairs of perfectly good shoes assuming they were the problem before my GP diagnosed
