Mental health resources...

Hi, many of us struggle psychologically with chronic illness in normal reality. In this heightened isolated environment I just thought our UK members could have some numbers of organisations that may help them or their family at this time.

Feel free to add to it and our international friends can join in too. Thanks. 👍🌻

Absolutely Poopadoopy !

I have Bipolar 2 and my meds have been pretty for years but they’ve had to be increased to help me cope with this virus .

Thanks Poopadoopy, I already suffer badly with OCD so as you can imagine all this extra washing hands etc is not helping my stress levels and anxiety.

I bet it's really difficult with OCD. I am a "little" germ phobic - my family would argue a lot phobic- normally, and I am more anxious especially when shopping comes in the house. 🙂 🙃🥴😱 at the moment isn't it! 🌻

Oh definitely. I am already dreading my Tesco delivery tomorrow evening, I probably won’t have time to go to bed with all those food items to wash lol. My hands are forever raw ☹️

I have a system of 3 big plastic tubs and bring in stuff a bag at a time. One box with soapy water. Everything waterproof gets dumped in for over 30secs with a good rub, the second is clean water and the third gets Layer of washed goods, a tea towel, layer, tea towel. Etc. When last one full I empty and start again. All boxed stuff is tipped out of boxes, flour into plastic tubs. All fruit and veg in a bleached cleaned sink. All handles washed on cupboards and surfaces wiped with my soapy spray. Then all clothing in washer and me in the shower complete with glasses. Forgot the old towels off the floor from under the bags gets washed too. It's exhausting isn't it. 🥵 And I confess the first run through had me on the floor. Buying the right things is the trick now😉

I was running out of soap in my dispenser but had dove shower creme, bought for Xmas. But too dangerous and slippy in my shower. It's soap isn't it?? My hands so much less sore using that instead of antibacterial. Though I do a middle squirt with anti bac before final bit of dove. Then I use a squirt of doublebase gel on the back of my hands.

Good luck!👍

OMG you could quite easily be my twin 😂 you remind me so much of myself.

Yes it really is exhausting. The strange thing is, when you have CBT for your cleaning obsession they tell you to do the exact opposite like touching things and refraining from washing your hands. Now we’re told to wash, wash, wash. I think there are going to be a lot of people who end up with OCD after this is all over and the waiting lists for Therapy will be years instead of months 🤔

in reply toBird-67

Yes. Then we won't have to be if we trust their cleanliness. 🤣😂🤣

I used to be a commercial and domestic cleaner years ago and no one gets me to touch a filthy loo etc CBT or no CBT...but I use CBT to manage the anxiety mentally to stop worrying and think it's Darwinian survival to avoid things that can make me ill. 🤯😵😇

Yes I too was a cleaner years ago but luckily didn’t have to clean loos. I did watch a tv programme on OCD a few years ago and the Therapist wiped his finger round the toilet rim and then licked it 🤮🤮I thought I’ll stick with the OCD if any Therapist ever asks me to do that lol.

🤣😂😂
