Taking wrong tablet

I realised this morning I had only taken 2 of my 4mg pred yesterday evening (I wasn't trying to reduce Pro - honestly)!

What has shocked me is the amount of pain that has occurred this morning (after only

missing 2mg!?! I really thought I was "settled" in my PMR journey. Will I never learn?😏

Same happened to me Constance - I was on 4mg and have had to go up to 10mg maybe more if I’m honest but cannot reduce even by 1mg at the moment. Had been on 4mg for 18 months pain free then I had what turned out to be a flare at Christmas. Different areas of pain to when first diagnosed and pain far worse too.

GP treating me at the moment as my first rheumie appt since moving has been delayed because of Coronavirus.

I was just sooo surprised that 2mg made such a difference so soon. I didn't know why I felt so bad until I found the other two tablets on my bedside cabinet. I haven't been exactly 'right' these last couple of days so have upped my pred by 2mg. This is the last thing I wanted to do in my 8th year of PMR.☹️

Hope things are, at least, running smoothly for you and your husband.

Often think of you! If I had 'half' your troubles I'd feel myself lucky!

Take care. 💐🍀🍀 C. xxx

Thank you Constance.

It seems that a change of doses either way can cause the body to react - I was fine and for another problem steroids were upped from 4mg to 20mg before Christmas. I managed to taper back reasonably quickly, two weeks and was fine

A few weeks later I started with a bad pain in my right arm and because it wasn’t bilateral didn’t associate it with PMR. This went on for six weeks not sleeping pain killers not helping at all. Went to A&E so painful nothing broken and said muscular skeletal see Rheumie.

No improvement so saw a physio, as was convinced I’d pulled something, she looked at my history and said if was Rheumie I needed to see, gave me simple exercises which had difficulty doing.

Then whole body stiffness set in so knew then what it indicated.

Couldn’t stand the pain so I upped my steroids by 1mg - not much relief but a tiny indication it wanted to help - so upped to 7.5mg much better - upped to 10mg nearly pain free. So rang GP for agreement and more pred who said might need 12.5mg. I’m hanging onto 10mg and after two weeks tried a 1mg drop but it wasn’t having it.

So back with the usual - fat cheeks, hunger and sleeplessness. I still wonder if the original change to 20mg caused it and of course the other stresses you know about.

We’re okay everything on hold re house due to virus so adjusting to not going out. Lovely sunny spring day and garden

budding beautifully - for the first time, because of arm, daren’t attempt any gardening. Paying someone.

Keep safe 🌹

"Fat cheeks, hunger and sleeplessness" - I don't have any of those. I was one of the few who lost weight on PMR (1 and 1/2 stone). I sleep 8 - 10 hours every night!

See, I told you I am lucky!😂😂
