Can you have a relapse from tapering off of prednisone after 3 months?

PMR
Almost certainly, unfortunately. I would attempt to get on top of the inflammation quickly, unless your doctor ( if you have current access to one) believes that you have developed one of the conditions that can trail PMR. What are your current symptoms? How long did you have PMR? This information will enable you to get better answers.
Hi najalara, are you saying you were diagnosed in December 2019? What dose if pred were you on and for how long? Or are you saying after several years you have stopped?
If this is PMR you would expect to be on pred starting at 15 to 25mg and can expect to be tapering of for anywhere between 12monthbto 2yrs, with the median time on pred treatment being 5.9yrs and for a few for longer than that.
You need to see your Dr and get examined and treated asap.🌻
Pred is not a cure - it relieves the inflammation to relieve the symptoms it gives rise to. You start with a dose that is higher than you are likely to need and then titrate it - taper it very slowly in small staps - to find the lowest dose that manages the symptoms as well as the starting dose did. That may take months because the underlying disease is usually more active in the first 6 months but may last longer. To get off pred entirely typically takes years - not months to get to zero.
To say more than that needs us to know a lot more about how you were taking the pred- dose, when you started, when you finished...
