I am sorry to talk about me in these awful times. I am tapering and now at 4mg. My son has a chest infection. Long story short I took 4 of his 5mg tablets last night by mistake. I am so angry as I am so stupid!!! Can i go back to 4mg tomorrow?

I think thats fine.I ve gone up a mg and went back down.
You will probably feel fantastic tomorrow! hope your son still has enough tablets.
As heronNS says....you will probably have a flying day and can drop straight down tomorrow. As long as there's enough for your son....you may have to replace some??
Yes, no problem at all - just enjoy a very good day!!!
It is not all about you and you are not selfish.
You had a genuine question and were looking for an answer and it needed to be asked so you regain peace of mind and avoid stress and anxiety.
Next time you have a question - do not post you are selfish..........you are not.
Believe me...it was a nice change of pace to answer a non covid question!
Reading this actually made me chuckle ! It’s exactly the sort of thing I could see myself doing even while trying to be extra careful ! You probably carefully counted four and not three . It would SO easy to do . Obviously no harm done from all the expert replies . It made my day knowing I’m not the only one . Hope you had a good day anyway -or at least an ok one !😊
Can thank you all enough for your responses you really put my mind at rest.
My gp recently retired so a couple of surgeries have merged. When I asked for my usual tablets the doctor said he couldnt believe I am still on steroids for nearly 3 years. That is was terrible. I felt awful I have been trying to taper and came off them last November but I couldn’t cope as tapered too fast.
You didn't taper "too fast", you tapered too far and too soon.
And that GP needs educating. Work from the Mayo and former top PMR/GCA rheumy found the average duration of pred management for PMR is just under 6 years:
