Obviously , the Moderators are very busy now , for obvious reasons , so if replies are turned off on this post I'm sure you will understand , but I just thought I'd put this up to say , Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all....

And give you reminder of the days when you saw someone looking green and didn't feel the need to grab a face mask and run for the hills.

The pubs may not be open in Ireland or most of the World at large but don't let that stop you raising a glass at home , enjoying the " Crack" with friends and family by messaging on Skype or the good old blower , doing a little jig to your favourite Irish fiddle music for a bit of self isolated exercise , and generally keeping your spirits up in whatever way you can.

Keep Proactive , Keep Positive , and Keep those Irish Eyes 'A' Smiling , now where's my fiddle , virtual hugs , Auntie Bee xxx

IMPORTANT PS: Don't forget that all Covid 19 / Coronavirus questions , updates and replies are being put on a Daily post that you can add to yourself rather than separately from now on . I know I forgot again I'm going to try and spin it on the computer and reload it later if I can get my Medieval Brain around it!!!

They were a funny bunch , we only ended up taking this photo because one of them ( if I remember rightly it was the Green Cross Code Man ) had kidnapped me from my OH by slinging me Fireman style over his shoulder and running away . Eric , my eldest in the rainbow hat , had ran arms waggling after us to try and save me , the OH just carried on walking in the other direction , typical! You can't see it but I was dressed as a Green Fairy at the time , an unfortunate choice under the circumstancesπŸ˜‹πŸ€πŸΊ

Do you know how much of a technical genius I feel now that I have finally managed to learn how to turn my photos around!!!

Pathetic really but I'm all smiley , especially as I'm one of the youngest people on her you would think I'd be more of use with this techy nonesense!! XXXπŸ€πŸ˜‹πŸ‘

Craic - all the parades called off here in Northern Ireland - going to go into the wide world to get some Guiness soon

Be careful as you go , you don't want Guinness to become your undoing , not that it hasn't been the undoing of many an Irish lad or lass in the past of course !πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸΊπŸ€

Lasses never drank the Black Stuff - and if you believe that then the leprechauns have been messing with your brain !

It was my main go to drink from about age 20 , people used to say I drank it to match my outfit.

Is Basil Brush alive and has PMR?

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to Theziggy

Basil Brush is alive and kicking , all rumours of having PMR , GCA or a sudden case of Covid 19 are being vehemently denied by Management.

All I can advise is to watch out for that jealous sow! (in reply to - Or have You and Kermit the Frog got some explaining to do )

There are several types of Guiness in cans now though, even a Draught version in a can!

Anyone remember Ena Sharples drinking Stout! Doctors used to prescribe it for low blood count!

My friend was given Guinness as a premature baby on Doctor's orders in her bottle . She eventually grew into a very athletic girl and was 6 ft 2 by age 12. When she went to the GP for a check up for growing pains he asked if there was anything she did that may be causing such a growth spurt. Her Mum pointed out , "No , although she still has the Guinness everyday to help her grow properly". He looked a little surprised and pointed out she was only meant to stay on it until she was a normal size and she could probably stop it now.

True Story , She is also 6 ft 5 . Guinness is clearly good for you !!

When I owned a pub I kept the Guinness in perfect condition as it was my favourite. The Guinness reps came and checked it up and down ....the temp is important as it the slow pour and getting it to settle and be dark as the soul. I probably would try a mouthful now. I did do 2 sacrilegious things at that time...but keeping those to myself so my relationship with Guinness remain pure and my memories too.

Yes ,,I was very precious about the Guinness tap etc wherever I worked because I drank it , and took great efforts to pass on my pouring training to every new person behind the bar.

I've even still got a t-shirt with the instructions written on the back from my training days , I wear it in bed now , as it has a big illustration of a pint on the front with the words , The Perfect Body .... I wish !!!πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€πŸ€

Go raibh maith agat MrsNails

Funny thing is that in Northern Ireland it isn't the same as in Southern Ireland.

If you buy it in a pub that respects the Black Liqueur - the pouring of a third of a pint and the settling time and repeated twice and them the shamrock poured into the white head! Worth the wait! ☘️

That's how I was taught to pour it on a course with Guinness . The stuff in Ireland is best though , it's sort of more of a nutty black colour rather than the normal black and white and tastes even nicer.

We had to keep Grandma , my youngest as you know , from keeping her hands off it when she was a toddler . We took her to the Guinness Museum and she drank a sample before we could stop her , licked her lips and cooed , " ooh lovely my Guinness!" You really wouldn't have believed she would become the responsible little soul she is now if you'd seen her as a young un'
