In the absence of other help, it is YOUR personal responsibility to assume the rest of the world has something nasty and YOUR responsibility to wash your hands properly, avoid crowds altogether and other people as much as possible. No coffee mornings, no asking your pals fround for coffee even. When shopping try to keep 1m away from others - choose a quiet time even if it means getting up extra early. Clean your hands before leaving the house, as often as possible while out and particularly thoroughly when you get home. Avoid touching things other people have touched - use your elbow to press the lift buttons, or carry something you can wipe with alcohol to use instead of a finger.
Poops is the expert on cleaning things - far better at it than me! Maybe she will add her advice for me.

Thanks for the quick reply😃👍. I’m just pretty useless with anything computer/web related and tend to go round in ever decreasing circles then forget what I’m looking for🤪 - so operator ineptitude is usually the problem 🙄😊
Thank you so much for posting that picture! My daughter was arguing this very point last evening with friends who were being a bit clueless about why they should stay home.
And ....we need to remind people that the virus will run it’s course and go away if we don’t provide a nice human body to incubate in.
Two phone calls within minutes of each other. Tomorrow my husband was to have a checkup re his corneal transplant. Cancelled. I was to have a dental appointment, already more than three months delayed, was only two but the third month because the dentist wasn't there the day I went in so all I got was the cleaning. Cancelled. Only emergencies will be seen in either office. I asked to be put at the top of their cancellation list as I am worried about my teeth and I haven't seen a dentist for over a year. Would have gone before Christmas but I stupidly booked to go see my little family in Ontario then without checking the calendar first. Never make that mistake again!
Library is closed. My sons are working from home. Churches will be closed, along with some interesting Lenten programs (book discussion groups). Even my little group of lunch ladies has decided not to get together for the time being, mostly because I pointed out I've been on an immune suppressant for several years and live with someone who is in a high risk group.
Thank goodness for books, recorded music, internet, hobbies.....
Thanks for this....it’s perfect at capturing high risk folks. I’ll be copying and posting it on my social media outlets.
I’m in the process of communicating with my daughter who has a vacation planned in Panama and set to leave on Friday. I don’t think so!! Sent her latest article from the NP (National Post) announcing first death in Guatemala, and travel restrictions in Panama. Most everything is shit down there anyway, so not much of a vacation!
Hubby and I will be learning lots of new music together (he plays guitar, I sing). Now if we can just decide on some “common ground” songs that we both like.
My DIL is back at home from a week in the hospital as they attempt to stave off pre-term labour (she will be 28 weeks on Wed). OB specialists predicts she will go into labour early and it will be a fast birth, so I’m on call to watch the two boys.
Also two very important medical appointments upcoming next week for our step dad who lives with us. One is first visit with neurologist as they have detected a significant mass in his head from a recent CT scan. Two days later an appointment with urologist to go over results of prostate biopsy which GP said is very likely cancer (PSA 37.5, prostate VERY large). He’s to order a bone scan as well to see if there has been spread. We are really not sure if these appointments would be cancelled/delayed given the current state. Our step dad would be ok if things did get delayed as he has been putting all of his health concerns off, and told us not to share with the family (sigh). Indeed he lost 40 pounds (unexplained and not trying), before he allowed my OH to go to GP appt.
So on top of everything else, many concerning things going on in the background. Trying to stay positive, not panic, and make the best of it all. So far so good, no flare, thanks in big part to my husband’s support, calm nature and humour. If I had yo be stuck in the house with anyone, I’m so glad it’s him. Besides, he’s healthy as a horse, and only missing his trips to the gym 4-5 times per week, but has since found a home workout routine someone else posted online who is also at home.
I’ve also joined a positive based FB group that provides some comic relief in the face of the world tragedies....sometimes I just need to laugh to combat the worry and stress.
Checking in on this forum helps so much. Thank you all for your interesting, supportive, and informative posts!
(sorry for the length, obviously I needed to get this “all out”)
I went through all this prostate cancer business three and a half years ago. The worst part was the biopsy, though being told I had cancerous cells wasn't great. At the end of the day I was treated with hormone injections and radiotherapy. Now my PSA is down to less than one, so I regard myself as in remission. Hope he doesn't get delayed.
Dear PMRpro, thanks once again for your sensible input. Sending you all good wishes at this trying time x
I went a bit mad with the delete button forgetting it said post deleted.... It was nothing serious deleted just a chat about a video that wouldn't play.
Yes I will add something re deep cleaning oneself! or direct should anyone need it or something I can add... You seem to be doing it OK 😉
Thank you so much for that Pro. Just a question - when do we stop being immunosuppressed? Is it when we are at zero and do we have to be "pred free" for a certain length of time. I'm now at 0.5mg and this week it's 2 days no pred on the slow slow reduction. absolutely no PMR symptoms, Not that I intend to be stupid - been preaching at my OH about how sensible he should be regarding isolation and handwashing so I must practice what I preach at the very least!!!
No idea at all - and at a guess, nor does anyone else know!!! By zero it should be non-suppressed but you don't want Covid19 and the only sure way is to avoid the great unwashed! And wash YOUR hands ...
I am having coffee with my friend at the moment , like we do every week .... By phone , this has been known to go on for hours , we get free calls for 55 mins with other users on the the same phone company . We put the kettle on after 45 mins have a loo break then go again.
It's a perfect way to self isolate and still carry on , Old Skool communication that still feels like human contact. We are both Long Standing Chronic Illness Folks , so we both enjoy it.
I replied to someone a couple of days ago stating that it can take up anything up to a year for your body to fully recover from long term steroid use - so don’t just assume everything switches back on the day after you took your last dose of Pred.
