Hello, I have just been diagnosed with PM are my blood tests are marginally higher I’ve been trying to explain to my doctor for awhile now that I get super tired I can’t Do a full-time job now I have to go home and sleep so I’m only working part time my symptoms are and I have constantly explain to my doctor I get headaches, I get neckache for no reason, I wake up in the morning and my joints are so much aching it takes me a while to really work at ignoring the pain and do a full-time job now I have to go home and sleep so I’m only working part time my symptoms are and I have constantly explain to my doctor I get headaches, I get neckache for no reason, I wake up in the morning and my joints are so much aching it takes me awhile to really work at ignoring the pain and been able to manage the day, I forced myself to eat I know that’s very important I don’t really feel angry but I do eat but nice food, I stumbled and read about PMR And then reported it to my doctor and said this seems exactly what I’m going today they’ve done a blood test on me and it’s come back higher than it should be so they’ve done other blood test yesterday, it’s not the fact that I’m trying to get off work I’ve been signed off for two months, it’s the fact that if I don’t work I don’t get paid which can be a little bit scary is there anything that I can claim to help me whilst I’m going for a journey okay and then reported it to my doctor and said this seems exactly what I’m going through they’ve done a blood test on me and it’s come back higher than it should be so they’ve done another blood test yesterday, it’s not the fact that I’m trying to get off work I’ve been signed off for two months, it’s the fact that if I don’t work I don’t get paid which can be a little bit scary is there anything that I can claim to help me whilst I’m going for a journey, i’ve worked since I was 12 years old and don’t know about any cleaning you can do, It’s been such a challenge not realising what’s going wrong with me and very frustrating that nobody could find the problem, once and 100% then I can work on myself and except I have to get on with life it is a lot better when you know the problem, I’ve gone through aggressive cancer prostate and come out the other end of this because I knew what was going on with my body I am very good in a getting on with things but I just need to know exactly where I am too, if anybody can help me on this matter this would make my life a lot easier thank you for reading this profile many thanks, Dave

Hi Dave- and welcome.

You don’t say if you are on Prednisolone/Prednisone- depending on where you live.

Are you - what dose and what instructions/advice has GP given you - other than sick note.

If you have officially been diagnosed with PMR you need to let your personal people (HR) and line management know - and they should be helping you.

Have a look st this - might give you answers - might also raise more questions - but there’s always someone on here to help /

To give you real advice we need to know what country you live in and what sort of job you do.

I think it is quite difficult in the UK to get any benefits for PMR because although it comes under disability legislation in terms of arrangements being made in the workplace to allow you to continue working, it is assumed that once you are on prednisolone the pain and stiffness are controlled and you can work - even if your usual job is too much. But there are people who have managed to get some help - both in the UK and the US.
