Are you concerned that you could pass on an infection from your wife , or , that going to the hospital could put you at risk when you feel ok?
If you aren't confident to go and feel you could wait to have the Rheumy appointment for a month or two you could ring and request to rearrange your appointment , but be aware you may have to wait some time for a new appointment.
If you take the precautions that are suggested , hand washing and keeping distance from others you should be ok to attend . I've been to two physio appointments and a Cardiologist since this began with no issues.
The waiting rooms were also deathly quiet as it seems that most people are reacting to the fear of the virus and cancelling or not attending appointments in my area , there is ample information and signs making sure people keep themselves safe . If you are keeping away from A and E it's probably cleaner and safer than usual at this time of year.
I think that’s very sensible of you. Of course your wife’s cough may not be the dreaded CV - but better to assume it is until proven otherwise.
As you say you feel alright there is probably no need to see Rheumy - and instructions from him can be conveyed by post/email if necessary.
Hope it’s not CV for your wife, and she soon gets better.
I would phone and ask what to do. Here in Italy all non-urgent appointments are being cancelled and will be rearranged later. Of course, the UK is rather behind us yet but doctors are already making their contingency plans - even rheumies as I was told by one last night.
Agree that you are best to request a phone consultation.
