Flair not fall ....

I have been to my GP who says my hip is bursitis type pain. I kept thinking everything hurt from my fall but when I did the math it has been months.

So I called my eye physician who told me to go from 10 to 20 mgs. I almost cried but then if we give in to that we would be even more miserable. Every time I get to 10 I crash n burn and no my idea of slow is one week then drop... I have however done a dead slow once and still crashed n burned.

What has been weird on my every 3 month eye exam (he takes GCA serious) my distant vision has been getting better I mean I am almost 20 20 in both eyes....I hardly ever wear anything these days but readers....

It has been only two days and I can feel some relief but not like I would like. Please don’t let the moon face back. It is my only request is to have my face back.

One of my dearest friends asked me if I was dating again...NO NO NO never again...so she said relax have fun and don’t look in mirrors....so I don’t...

It is just an illusion we need a mirror to brush our teeth or comb our hair.

Yes the moon face is hard to bear - I didn’t avoid carbs last time though. Sorry you are poorly again. I expect you’ve made decisions around Methotrexate and the like already - Actemra too? 20-20 distance vision is amazing. I avoid mirrors too and delude myself quite successfully. It is the changed shape that is alienating. This disease is a trial, sometimes . If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Hugs! Jane x

This is weird. I thought I replied last night. I was in bed so must have forgot to hit post....geez... I now know I answered because I told you never again on methotrexate in fact it was so bad I have it down as allergy. I don’t think the other one is covered by my insurance and it is expensive....

As to carbs I am a complete failure. I gained back the 20 I lost.... that has really bummed me out. But I will try again but carbs are so easy. Hugs😺

We are in the same boat. Chin up as my mum used to say. ♥️

Hi lin... What a pain! Literally. I know its harder on higher doses but low low carb and low salt may help significantly. Did you increase after the fall? My view is different... Look in the mirror or take a photo everyday. Get used to the face so it's not such a shock when you catch sight. In Xmas photos 3 years ago I look like Mrs smiley football face.... But now my face lookz longer and thinner, and people keep asking me... Why the long face... 😂🤣😂🙄

Of course one school of thought is that a fall requires an increase in pred with pmr.... Perhaps gca the same?? .... So a short term increase after the fall might have been an effective protector.... Keep painting.

I run out of good food too fast n eat sandwiches which is this lazy persons food of choice. I just went up 3 days ago and fell months ago....👀

It can be hard when you feel rubbish. I put all my bread in the freezer as I don't like thawed bread sandwiches. When I left work with chronic pain, stress and fibro I ate porridge for a year as it was just easier to do. I did get pears in too but had a limited diet. I am fortunate that I visit a small supermarket and whole food shop on my way home form taking the dog. I only buy for 2 days which is more expensive in the long run but I never know what I fancy. But at the end of the day I probably have 3 or 4 main meals... Oven roasted med veg with halloumi, veg stir fry, usually with a peanut or tahini dressing, salad with a vicarage.... 😂🤣😂 Avocado... Autocorrect... I use a pitta bread to smother in. Pizza style veg and cheese. I may do two but just eat the topping on the second. And I think that's it unless I make a special effort with a new recipe. I do make a red cabbage, carrot and fennel "pickle" to chomp on. Or celery and soft cheese, home made houmous with crudités like celery, carrot, fennel, peppers. Can you tell I am hungry!! Salad day today. 😋

Not necessarily more expensive - far less waste ...

in reply to PMRpro

That's true. Twice I have done a big shop and didn't feel good and it ended up getting thrown out a week later. I could probably work the cost waste ratio, if I could be bothered...

I shop almost every day - and almost NEVER throw anything away except the peelings and very very occasionally a bit of cheese that got forgotten. I know what is there and if he doesn't want it - I create something for me and give him what he will eat. But the major secret is to know what you will eat and how much under normal conditions.

I think I have carrots for the dog and the other half of the salad for tomorrow and cheese in the fridge. Forgot yoghurt.

Cheese covers a multitude of sins! Most veggie things can be resurrected with a good soak done in time!

Is that your painting? It's lovely. Sorry for the disappointment in increasing, I think we all know that horrible feeling. I hope it won't be for too long!

in reply to powerwalk

Yes it is a small 8x10. Right in front of little fence is a bunch of yellow flowers when the light on it changes they turn white. It is fun. I am feeling blessed that I can have fun painting my shoulder will ache if I spend too long but I use acrylics and they dry fast so I paint fast.🖼

All I can say again is that it is your body telling you 10mg and below is simply too low. Stop before you overshoot it again. I also struggle to get below about there so I don't even tempt fate now. It makes for a much happier life!

And I know someone has posted the study that found that falls were associated with being the cause of flares.
