Up my dose?? for small surgery?

I just read that increasing prednisone is a good idea before a squamous cell skin cancer removal on my leg. Does anyone have any thoughts on upping my prednisone. I actually lowered it today from 2 to 1.5 ..I feel like the less prednisone the stronger my immune system.... the surgery is this Friday. it is enough that they have told me I can't lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for a week. although..it seems crazy it isn't a huge spot.... anyone?

Good luck with your op Bonnie. I would ask the surgeon, take it with you just in case though. Well done for negotiating the tricky path to 1.5 mgs!

Not sure about immune system recovery, but your positive attitude towards

it will have an impact. 💖

If it was me, I’d keep at 2mg because the adrenal system might not step up to the plate for this challenge and getting 25% less than it was expecting. This dose is tiny, so not sure it registers so much on the immunosuppressant scale any more. Good luck for Friday!

I just had mohs surgery in January for basal cell carcinoma on forehead. I think I was on 30 mg pred (or 25 mg?) at that time. Rheumatologist did not feel changing dose for surgery was necessary. My healing was very easy. Hope yours is too.

Hi yb, hopefully pmr on the retreat, BUT if still active it may be immune system still overactive re scar tissue etc. I would stick at 2mg for any invasive issues. Hope the surgery goes well and no bodybuilding afterwards. 🏋️‍♀️

I wouldn't have reduced - at that low a dose it won't be much of an issue. And ask the anaesthetist what they think about adding pred - they may give you hydrocortisone anyway,

Lifting 10lbs is probably about what I could manage anyway! It's when they say you can't even lift a kettle I would be bothered

All the best!

We are about 350km from Codogna so not near at all. We have one registered case about 90km away in our region but their contacts are all negative for the virus so far. But who knows how many cases there are and where - we have a lot of tourists here from all over Europe to ski over the half-term holiday.

Good luck to us all! I just think I have been lucky in this life to get to this age. Now to be a helper if a pandemic happens. I'm sure it isn't easy and I admire the people to whom it comes naturally..or unnaturally but do it anyway. Perhaps this shall pass much more quietly than we expect! Feel free to delete this. perhaps the Wrong time and place! xo
