It's Back

After being healthy and having gone through PMR more than 10 years ago, it's back. Hopefully, the low and short term dose will do the trick. I was on it for two years before. Don't want to go through all of out again, but prednisone is better than the pain.

Welcome.... I am sorry you are back in the club! From what I understand a lower dose is often found to work second time around. And yes, the pred is better than the pain.

Hard luck - the people I know who have had it more than once all say it is very different second time round in every respect so don't be misled when something is different.

For sure it is different this time. Hopefully, I will kick it faster.

Sorry you have had to renew your membership to the PMR Club.

But you know somebody's been there before when they say sensible and practical things like , " Prednisone is better than the Pain".

Hope your travels back down this path are smooth xx

So sorry you've "got it again". I'm interested to know when you say it feels different how is it different? What dose are you taking? Were you diagnosed or did you just tell the doc it was back? I ask as I am thinking I might be going into remission.....choosing my word carefully here in view of your news! I'm currently on 0.5 mg, so far so good. Good luck.

The difference is the way it started. 1st time I was hurting in shoulders and down my bottom. This time it started out just in my knee and so I shrugged it off as I was working on my feet a lot. Then within two weeks I could hardly move. I have been diagnosed by a rhumatologist.

Thanks for that reply, Clammy.

Wow, 10 yrs in remission and now back, what a shame. Fingers crossed the low dose of Pred. will sort you out. What dose were you put on?

10 mg for 1 week and then 5 mg for 1 week. I know after taking for a few days, I will be calling the doctor today because I woke up with about half the normal pain during the night. I'll deal with it whatever is decided. Thanks for your concern.

Oh My I am so sorry to hear that. I pray it will be short lived with little pred.

I wrote this same post on patient. Info and used the same title. I had to check to make sure I didn't post this. It is very discouraging isn't It.

Hope it will be short lived. At least you have had a wealth of experience but what a shame!!

How gutting Clammy. You forget just how disabling it feels. I hope you have a straightforward ride this time.
