The GP rang me this afternoon to say my latest blood test showed I have a higher than normal level of lymphocytes. Has this happened to anyone else? My CRP is 6 and my ESR is 5.

High Lymphocytes
There can be many reasons for a high lymphocytes count .
If you have had or are about to come down with an infection of some sort it can increase lymphocytes .
If you have an ongoing chronic autoimmune related condition it increases lymphocytes , and PMR or GCA can have an autoimmune basis.
And of course , it can be an indicator of other issues like lesions , immune disorders , other chronic illnesses and things like Cancers .
It's important for them to continue to monitor your lymphocytes if high/ normal or order other tests based on your current symptoms if they are high to make sure that there is no other illness as simple as a chest infection or more serious issues that needs extra treatment.
It also helpful if you have a breakdown of your lymphocytes test score .
It is divided into T cell count and B cell count , and the one which is most high can narrow down what sort of change you are looking at.
Has the GP told you what they want to do next?
Are you feeling unwell or having any new symptoms?
Have you had a recent infection or do you feel one coming on?
You can ask for the T and B cell results to be printed off at the doctor , share it with us if you want , and then you may be able to have a better idea of what to ask about next.
Take care and try and relax until you find out more .
We don't always say this , but it is possible that it is PMR !
My last one was 2.80 when top range 3. It and other things like white blood cells have often been borderline but we do have an anti inflammatory condition. It's good that the dr is keeping a close eye on you. Let us know how it goes. 🌻🌈
