I have just got back from a two night three day trip to Madrid with my girlfriends. On one day alone I walked five miles and our apartment had five flights of stairs to get to. Although exhausting I didn’t get any symptoms in my legs which normally are the first to flare. Does this mean that I may be getting better? Fabulous city by the way and Cirque Soleil was amazing.
Hope: I have just got back from a two night three... - PMRGCAuk

How wonderful, just goes to show there’s so much to look forward to.
Take it easy now for a day or so.
Kind Regards

I think holidays should be in prescription. My holiday in the summer was a complete reboot. I went from lots of leg ache and worrying if I could even walk across the airport terminals to hiking a few miles each day. Though I’ve had fatigue and stiffness since it really seemed to be a turning point in my PMR journey.
For me stress is s major factor.
Even if its still up and down you know what you can do now when the stars aline. Glad you had a great time 💃
Wonderful cheery post and photo As we know PMR is very ready to respond to negative stress, this can make us cautious. But our illness isn't just a set of bodily hindrances, sometimes kicking up our heels (even metaphorically), good company and getting out of our PMR house stimulates lots of positive feedback ... goodness knows we need that.
Lot drier in Madrid than the UK - makes a difference to me. I have a PMR friend with a villa in the south - feels much better there than at home in the south of England.
A villa in the south - magic words. I'm trying to see the garden through raindrops on the windows. Again. Only one full day of sun during November doesn't really cut it. Books, colour in the leaves, wood burner, conversations over coffee, little bright spots amongst the mizzle. And forum
We had well over a metre of snow last week, no electric for 30 hours, floods, mudslides, avalanches - all due to 7 Mediterranean low pressures after another without a break. It appears to be wet everywhere except in Oz where they could use it ...
Thanks everyone. It did rain in Madrid and when we got back home to Cadiz. Lots of turbulence on the plane. But the sun is out today. I did need the break as my OH is on chemo every other week and is really ill. Having to cope with PMR and this has been really hard.
Think that probably answers the question - I did something similar 25 years ago while OH was on chemo every 3rd week. I got in the car and headed back to my friends in Germany - so different. This last year has been similar but different - I haven't done that break and I need it.
Sorry to hear your OH is ill - chemo is awful to live with, it is burnt in my mind. I didn't have PMR though - just 2 adolescent daughters and his mother lived in the same house, at least in a granny flat, not in "our" bit!
"Just" two daughters , a Mother in Law , a house to look after , and an OH on Chemo , that's like the Real Life equivalent in Pain causing Stress of having PMR!
I hope you get the chance to have a restorative break soon , even if it's just for a few days in a place closer to Home , you need it and deserve it.
