Two things!

Constance13 profile image
β€’40 Replies

1. Everything I put in my mouth seems sweet. (Husband hasn't noticed it, so it must be me)!

2. My urine is almost colourless although I only drink about 1 1/2 litres per day. This has gone on for 2 or 3 months. I didn't concern myself at first, but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone else had this sort of thing happen?

Do you have diabetes?

A urine dipstix test? Fasting blood glucose? Hba1c?

Constance13 profile image
Constance13β€’ in reply toPMRpro

Dipstick test: blood (which I've had for over 30 years so not really relevant. White corpuscles (?!?) (since UTVs).

Obvious question: have you spoken to the doctor about it? Because if you haven't - you need to!

Constance13 profile image
Constance13β€’ in reply toPMRpro

Not yet! I just wondered if it could be anything to do with the frequent UTIs I've been having.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toConstance13

There are several things that can cause it - and one is diabetes. Which can also contribute to frequent UTIs because there is sugar in the urine and the bugs are very happy about that!

But there are others and your doctor needs to do some tests.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toConstance13

There may be a link between the pale urine and the UTIs it seems - doctor time xxxxx

It is so lovely to have one person like PMRPro on this site. I LOVE how everyone has their niche...... Perhaps PMRpro is a delicate little flower and has just become her strident (but wise and loving) self on the forum. ... hmmmm anyone KNOW PMR Pro in REAL life_ ? !

Constance13 profile image
Constance13β€’ in reply toyogabonnie

PMRpro "delicate" - I just CAN'T imagine it!πŸ˜‚

I don't 'know' her personally but we have had a 'relationship'πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ on here for 6 years - she knows, encourages, helps and tells me off if not "doing as I'm told".

(She'll be telling us both off in a minute for "discussing her behind her back". Watch out!!

Yellowbluebell profile image
Yellowbluebellβ€’ in reply toyogabonnie

I am with constance on this in doubting delicate describes pro!! She is only stern and short when people dont help themselves and insist on ignoring advice from people who have "been there, got the tshirt". We have so many people who have bucket loads of experience on here, we are extremely lucky.

We might have to interrogate mrsnails on what the "real" pro is like!!

If we go on like this she will report us!!πŸ˜‚

Just checking because when I did it I became sensitised to the taste of sweetness.

I have heard of this before, not sure what the name of the syndrome is called but it has something to do with yeast. Chemical reaction in body. Not sure what other disassociated symptoms you have but also play a key factor in the way things taste. Let me find the syndrome I will find the link and send it your way.

healthline.com/sweet-taste-... might something you might check out it is called sweet fast syndrome. Not uncommon but give you heads up when you take to your doctor.

I get this at times ( I eat cakes 😱) and diabetic, have they given you a proper blood test ? I had so many tests when I was first diagnosed it was unbelievable. UTIs are treated with antibiotics for the specific bug causing it, I can only have a drip as allergies to the antibiotics. Ask your doctor first to refer to urologist, they now do a pessary already on the syringe you put inside you, does the job to stop getting them regular. Good luck.

I see a nephrologist once a year as I have kidney insufficiency.

I wonder why you didn't mention you have kidney deficiency until now. It could very well be related to your problems.

Constance13 profile image
Constance13β€’ in reply toPurple-Owl

Nephrologist said it hadn't changed so she said it wasn't really important. This has all just popped up since I had the UTIs so I wanted advice about whether that affected the urine long term. I'll have a blood and urine test next week and see what the doctor says before I make another appointment with the Nephrologist.
