I have been waiting 7 months to see a new Rheumatologist and was given a last minute cancellation.. this afternoon ! In the meantime, the GP prescribed Prednisolone, now on 8 mg. can anyone think of any questions I should ask? I’m wondering since I get terrible pain ( indigestion) on Pred, has anyone tried or been given Low Dose Naltrexone? Is it with asking for this ?

Write down all your symptoms and the timings of them, existing treatment and ask about treatment plan, discuss expectations of treatment. Its not usual at all for Naltrexone to be used for pmr. As I said above get enteric coated pred to stop stomach issues.

Bit late - but a note about LDN. It isn't routinely used in the UK (or anywhere else really) for PMR and there is no study evidence that it helps. We did have a member in Scandinavia whose doctor put her on it and she promised to let us know how she got on. Never heard any more.

You can only get it privately so have to pay and it must be made up by a registered compounding pharmacy and they are few and far between.
