Dear all

Unfortunately as my surgery is not really functioning I would be grateful if anyone could recommend a specialist in the Rutland/Leicestershire area please.

Many thanks in anticipation

Ann

Hi Ann

If you drop jinasc a PM (Private Message) she has a List of Recommended Rheumatologists & hopefully one in your area.

Regards

I will look at my messages, however she has been diagnosed with PMR and so I am not hopeful she will get a referral unless their are complications.

AS you know a person with GCA symptoms turning up at A&E with symptoms will always be seen as a priority,

As you know PMR is Primary Care and GCA Secondary Care and unless their are complications with PMR it is unlikely that they will get a recommendation - especially as the NHS is under pressure.

Mind that probably does not apply to private consultations.

Dear Annie, why do you think you need a specialist/rheumatologist? In fact 75% of people with PMR only ever see their GP. You will need to be referred by your GP if you go through the NHS, however if you were to go privately you could go directly.

Annie - l have PM’d you

I have recently seen a rheumatologist privately. It was her that made the diagnosis of PMR. I haven’t seen a GP but was sent for a pelvic X-ray back in September. This came back as me having mild osteoarthritis . As I was getting pain in my limbs, shoulders and neck I sought a second opinion. I was sent for a lot of blood tests both NHS and private. I am anaemic and low on B12 and Vitamin D.

I have decided not to go on oral steroids as I have a history of serious depression and am on lithium. I have decided to have steroid injections instead.

Not what you're looking for?
