Hi
Can anyone recommend a good Priobotic Yogurt Please.
Thank you.
I use Yeo Valley. It was recommended to me by a Medic.
Is Yeo Valley yogurt live? Each spoonful of this Yeo Valley Organic yogurt contains millions of live bacteria [Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium] that help you maintain the balance of natural flora in your body. You could explore their website.
However, there is a product made in Italy (near where PMR Pro lives) which was recommended to me by a Consultant after an operation and a recovery struggle, not available on NHS. I use it every time I have been given an anti-biotic once I have stopped taking it , back to a course of VSL#3. It is not cheap, but well worth every penny to me. Speedy replacement of the bacteria good guys.
I agree with jinasc. I love Yeo Valley but for a probiotic I make kefir from organic milk. Milk from grass fed cows contains vit K2 as well
The best proven probiotic is Kefer, Yeo do the drinks and yoghurt types.
Yeo valley Greek style. It is probiotic and I use a couple of spoonfuls in a litre of milk that has been heated to 85c and cooled at least 50c. Stir it well and leave in a warm place for 12hrs an voila another litre of Greek yoghurt.
Yeo Valley is worth trying. Also The Collective - unsweetened gloopy yoghurt. I think someone recommended on here last year and I’m now addicted! 😀
Yeo Valley natural has no added sugar and is organic. You can also get it anywhere. I have it every morning with nuts and berries.
Thanks for reply - Yeo Valley it is.
Just so you know, it doesn't hurt to have more than one source of probiotics in your diet, not just to eat when you take your pred. For example, kefir contains many more strains of active microbes than yoghurt, so a (small) glass of kefir a few times a week is not a bad idea for any of us who want to maintain good gut health. For non dairy sources (not for lining your stomach when you take pred) there are lots of fermented vegetables, the best known being sauerkraut.
If you can learn to like, or at least tolerate, yoghurt (and kefir) without sweetener that, too, is a good idea.
Another plus for yoghurt is some research apparently showed that yoghurt helps us absorb calcium, so a good idea to have a spoonful with a calcium supplement.
Thanks for your help.
