Hi,
I’ve attached you an NHS link which should be read in conjunction the Patient Information Leaflet in the box with your Prednisolone.
nhs.uk/medicines/prednisolone/
I hope this helps, please ask if you have any specific questions.
Kind Regards
MrsN
Thankyou , Madame.
We need to ensure that we have regular eye examinations because we are at risk of Glaucoma and fast developing cataracts. We also require 2 yearly Dexa scans to ensure that our bone density is good and osteoporosis is not evident ( take Calcium and vit D supplements). The weight gain is sneaky so we also need to take dietary precautions.
If your doctor has reason to suppose that your Adrenal glands are not waking up once you reach 3-4 mgs of Prednisalone then a Synacthen Test is indicated to ensure that you are capable of producing Adrenaline on your own.
We can develop type 2 diabetes from steroid use - this needs to be tested. I hope this is helpful.
There is a current discussion about the accumulated dose - with some mention of the longer term effects of steroids with links.
thank you all.
Don't take Alendreic Acid (sp) unless you have had dexa scan that says you are in actual osteoporosis. Sometimes they recommend it profylactically (another sp! ) where is spell check! haha. A good book to look at is called Your Bones by Lara Pizzorno. Good if you are on prednisone or just aging! since taking prednisone my last eye check saw pressure building in one eye and they are watching it for glaucoma.
