Update 6

My dear husband finally arrived home yesterday at 2.45pm. The ambulance was driven by two very nice ladies who had set off at 8am. Today he is very tired. What I didn't know 'til I read the report is that he has been treated for sepsis. No wonder he spent about four days not with it. He did not think he could have managed the journey in a private car. So I am very grateful to the PALS ladies and the unseen others who made it happen. The Ward has never contacted me to say he was on his way and neither the Matron nor Ward Manager told him of the arrangements. The last twenty four hours have been busy so please excuse me from not having replied to you dear people. I hope to catch up and thank you for all your help with this. Without you I don't think he would be home now.

I know what you mean, I'm the same, but if you cant cope he suffers too. All the best to you both.

Good news. But don’t too much - you’ve been under a lot of stress - and will continue to be.

Just enjoy the fact he’s nearer to home.

He's actually at home but very very tired.

In that case - rest when he does, as much as you can.

Been there! Don’t try to do too much when he’s asleep - it’s very tempting to, but you still need to pace yourself. Do the things like organising tablets etc in the quiet times, but you still need to look after YOU!

When he’s feeling a bit stronger, perhaps a friend can pop in and talk to him so you can have a bit of ME time.

Exactly what I was thinking , it's PMR style care for the sick technique , not what you used to do before the PMR.

Care for each others need for rest at the same time , and take everything slowly , when they are sick people can handle a few more minutes wait for things , they aren't going anywhere .

And if you can get relatives or friends to do the practical stuff outside the house like shopping or going to the chemist , and even popping in not just to visit the OH but do a bit of cleaning , dishes or bring a meal with them for you to heat up , all the better.

Getting others to do for you what you would have done to help them in the past is what you both need right now. Xxx

You're right but it is not always easy. Then I get frightened of having a migraine with aura, which I don't want if I can possibly avoid it.

I know it’s not easy....I looked after my late hubby for the last 5 weeks when he had terminal cancer - and I still had GCA (albeit well controlled by then), but you still have to think about YOU.

If you fall to pieces, then everything is going to go to rats! I know you want to do the best for him, but not to the detriment of your health.🌷

Thanks for that. I wanted to write a reply to Mrs Nails in her Test but there is nothing there now. Also the word Write seems to have gone from the top of the page. Can you let her know I cannot reply to hers of Saturday please?

in reply to prunus

Hi Prunus, l was literally doing a ‘Test’ re emojis & that’s why it disappeared.

How are you doing? And of course your lovely husband, l’m sure you’re glad to have him nearer to you. 🌷🌷🌷
