Previously Posted Tapering Prednisone Schedule

Hello,

Someone posted a Prednisone reduction schedule around mid June of 2019, that I believe was developed by a Swedish physician and it was an up and down tapering schedule and not just a straight reduction schedule. It was posted by a PMRpro Moderator in reply to sharon 1953. If anyone recalls this and has a copy...could it be reposted again?

It was actually developed by me - based on an idea from Ragnar (a Swedish patient) which he just used below 5mg. And it is at the top of the list of Related Posts (on the right side of the screen on a computer, don't know where on a phone).

This taper protocol has been my saving grace. Now I go again from 1.5 to 1 mg. Blood work all OK soooo here I go. Anyone else been at this transition dosage before? Thanks a bunch for everyone and every way we help each other. PMRJ

I can highly recommend this schedule. It worked beautifully for me and if occasionally I felt I needed to pause the taper, I would give myself an extra week at the current dose before going for the next very gradual drop. Be patient and before you know it you too will be Pred free. And hooray for that!
