Caring Rheumy Required
NHS or private?
I wish I could help.
The only one I can recommend is Rod Hughes in Chertsey ( St Peter's Hospital Ashford) He is my 4th Rheumatologist ( yes I had 3 awful ones!) and very sound. He listens, is respectful, and is as helpful as he can be. He also knows a lot!
He is not local for me- I travel about 2 hours to see him, but all my local ones I tried are rubbish for PMR and probably GCA too.
Good luck in finding the right one for you!
Sorry cherubim but only know of mine down here which is Dr menon.
Ok thank you.
I can recommend Dr Nicholas Rag at the royal Derby Hospital, in Derby. I see him and he is very good. There is a long waiting list though. Good luck xx
Hello - I found both the Rheumatologists I saw at NHS Circle Health, Nottingham very approachable. At my first appointment I saw a Senior Registrar - Dr Francis (shortened version of his name as can't recall the longer one). He was very understanding and listened to all I had to say. My next appointment was with a Consultant Rheumatologist, Dr A Srikanth. She too was very personable although I felt I could hardly get a word in for her wanting to talk - an unusual occurrence for me! Anyway, good luck to you x
I'm in the same boat as Cherubim. I've just googled the Nottingham Heath Circle for rheumies, but only one name comes up, different to the ones you mention. Perhaps the website is just out of date?
Dr Frances Rees is listed as a consultant - is that the one you mentioned as a senior registrar?
Hello - no, it wasn't Dr Frances Rees - I think she is a senior consultant. I can't remember the registrar's full name and I am away on holiday at the moment so can't check my report letter - sorry. However, I did have a very long wait for an NHS appointment. All the best - Kathy
The NHS Circle at the Queens Medical Centre Nottingham is where I go. My Rheumy is Adrian Jones....my G.P. thinks highly of him and a friend used to work as a receptionist in Rheumatology and says he’s a very nice man. I have no complaints: I’ve only met him twice but I like his manner: he really listens and is happy to answer all my questions.
The QMC is on the tram line so you can travel to Nottingham by train and then the tram.
