Mountains are a metaphor of Life

For many years I've delivered talks around the North East (and further afield) with reference to the Fire and Ice Expeditions teams achievements over the last 20 years. However, since my most challenging summit, Polymyalgia Rheumatica (2013-2015), and now in remission, the talks become more poignant when I refer to the adversity on a climb and relate it to my PMR. The audience see a fit and healthy man on the stage (photo was taken May 2019) and you can hear a pin drop when I tell them my PMR story. You don't have to climb a physical mountain but you will climb your peak and the views from the summit are excellent. "Invenium vium aut facium" ... You'll find a way, or make a way". Good luck

Hi Johnny,

I’m aware of your story, as have been around here a long time (GCA 2010-2016- in remission), but so many don’t, so it’s good for “remissioners” to tell their tales.

Many newbies can’t see the foothills let alone the summit - so it’s great for them to know what can be achieved. The fact that your story is reaching a wider audience as well can only mean that more people are aware of our illnesses.

Continued good health for you, and keep up the good work.
