Lymphoedema and PMR?
Sorry I should add I was diagnosed last year with PMR and I'm taking at the moment 12.5 pred and 12.5 methoxy'
Hello, this “lymphedema” really needs to be looked at by a by a doc as there are so many causes, some more urgent than others. Oedema is just the collection of fluid in the tissue spaces and is not necessarily due to lymphatic problems. For example and this is without knowing anything about you, previous injury to your arm may put you at higher risk of a thrombosis in a damaged limb. Whilst you can get spontaneous lymphoedema, especially after tissue damage, there are other medical causes for it. Whilst for everything ‘there’s always one’ It is not something that crops up as a common feature of PMR though there is another autoimmune condition that can cause this. The bottom line is, don’t waste time trying to diagnose yourself on this one. Good luck. I’m sure others will chip with their opinion too.
Hi Freya
Lymphoedema is not a usual sign of PMR but it needs checking out, although your GP ‘doesn’t know’ the cause it needs further investigating. Is there anyone else in the practice you can see, if not return to see him again. I’d guess you’d need an Ultra Sound, there are Lymphoedema Clinics with Specialist Nurses & you may require a compression sleeve.
It’s unacceptable for it not to be investigated further.
Please let us know how you get one.
Kind Regards 🌷

Please get yourself to a doctor or the emergency room soon! I had the swollen arm and thought it would go away. It was a blood clot in my neck. I had bumped my arm on chair. Some of us on prednisone have a tendency to get to them If this isn’t the case with you wonderful, but get it checked out let us know how you make out. MaryA 🌻 take care
