Gca worries.

Hi me again! I was diagnosed with pmr in jan and now on 9mg pred. Previously I have twice expressed concerns to my gp about sinus type headaches. He has categorically ruled out gca and said he didn't know what was causing pains in my head. They have got worse and sometimes temples are sensitive. I can feel the arms of my glasses. Anyway have appt to see the other gp at practice this morning. Wish me luck.

Good luck! I spent first year of PMR with head pain and have permanent sinusitis worrying GCA was on its way- sadly we know it can be so it's a rational worry. If nothing else I hope they take you seriously and professionally.🌻

Let us know how you get on.

When I had worries my first port of call was my opticians for an ‘eye health check’.

Thanks for reply. Gp reckons as blood tests were normal I am ok as regards gca. Has prescribed amitriptine for headache and to go back if still having problems.

I think I will arrange for an eye health check. Thanks for the suggestion sounds very sensible idea.

My GP prescribed amitryptylline for tension headaches too. I never took them, I went to the chiropractor instead. Neck and back muscles had obviously had a party because they were all tight. Few sessions later, headaches gone.

Check your optician does checks for the NHS (Minor Eye Condition Service or similar) then the test is free, and a report was given to me to give to my GP.
