Just tried to look that reference up that you gave me a day or two ago but all I got is that the page is unavailable so don't know what is going on. Can you give it to me again?

Hi Prunus
Here’s the Post from Poopadoop, we have pinned it as it may well be useful to many of us, l have ordered my copy already.

I hope it's ok for people. 😁
Me too, Mrs Nails. I have gained weight on Prednisone and my blood sugar is edging up, but I prefer to do my own counting rather than try to follow a fixed diet so I expect this book to be really helpful. I have noted the ketosis diet but as a retired SRN/RN I cannot accept this is a healthy thing to do to your body !
I think if we can make changes without going to extremes or start eating things we never ate before but to just think about portions! I’m looking forward to the book arriving.
My GP put my dose of Pred up for two weeks & l’m already showing signs of a rounded face 😔
But putting yourself into ketosis in my opinion is not a good idea.
Yes my HbA1c has just gone above normal so l’m very aware of that too!
I’ll let you know how l get on with the book.

Just using the book as a guide - no counting or anything like that but having a visual cue that portion 1 is ok but portion 3 is too many carbs has helped me. I have eaten a bit of everything vegetarian, sometimes more than I used to eat portion wise. The only thing I cut out for the first year was pasta. I was a glutton with it. I have recently introduced it back in a smaller portion. A dish with tagliatelli, with peas and asparagus in a cream sauce with lemon zest for example. In two years, reducing from 14mg to 6mg with a dmard, diabetes, insulin etc, I have lost over 2 stones. Since 27th march to yesterday I lost 2kgs. I have eaten as much as I wanted and had mashed potato and veg a couple of times in the past 2 weeks. And a big birthday meal..I do eat chocolate and some crisps, but my main food is things like greens/Quorn in peanut butter sauce with noodles in stir fry and salads. Not just a few leaves but a pile of leaves, Tom's, cucumber, apple, pickled red cabbage, avocado and cous cous flavoured with my favourite balsamic and soy sauce.
Hopefully it's a book where you make your own rules up.
Sounds just what I am looking for !
Bought the book, Poopadoop, and it came on Sunday. I’ve found it really good. Also good for the occasional piece of whatever my husband has got. I was amazed at some of the carb values of his treats. My small “taster”of his hasn’t been worth the carb value. I decided on alternative treats of my own which are less carb valued and are more substantial !!
Brilliant. I was getting worried that after recommending it people would buy it then think it was rubbish!😂😂😂
No not at all x
It is a shock when you see a pastry like a pecAn plait or whatever is 36g of carbs. I liked one occasionally.
Yes that’s exactly what I mean- my husband’s favourite so I would occasionally have a small slice off the end!! What a waste of my carb allocation- nice though 😜x
I think a lot of people get a shock when they discover how much carbohydrate hides in something that looks (and is) so delicious!
Sometimes I hate my lifetime in biological scienceS - no excuse of "I didn't know..." The guilt trip is always skimming along just below the surface
What a shame! You know too much😂
That's why the pictures appealed. As Mental visualisation doesn't hit my spot. A picture of it on a plate looks like reality 😂😂😂
Quite - like the pictures on dietdoctor of how many carbs in various things. Neatly laid out with high carb to the right, low carb to the left, leaves it easy to visualise what you can eat in large quantities and what not.
Plate size matters too - if the small plate is filled with what would look pathetic on a big modern plate you think you have had more even though it was the same amount.
I have put another free online 7 day programme online on that thread.
