Hello everyone,

I posted my PMR story here nearly 2 weeks ago, well actually, no, I didn’t, I had to ask PMRpro to do it for me as I must have been suffering serious pred head as I could not figure out how to post for myself. I wanted to say a big thank you to all who replied to me. I read all your posts and did intend to reply immediately. However, technology is not as great as it thinks it is. Two days after posting I went on holiday to a riverside lodge which claimed to have WiFi. Bit of a dodgy claim I’m afraid. Had a great holiday but very pleased to be back home with secure and reliable WiFi.

To all of you who posted links to information about osteoporosis prevention without having to take AA, many thanks, I have read them and once again come away from this forum much better informed about how to help myself. I have had a letter today telling me my Dexa scan appointment is the 17 July. I can guarantee that my GP, no matter what the result of the scan, will want me to take the AA. If I decide to persist in refusing the AA I will be able to explain my decision using the information you have provided for me.

I had blood test done just before going on holiday. Whilst away I had a phone call from the GP to say that I need to have the blood test repeated as my ESR was raised to 25, plus leukocytes and neutrophils higher than normal. Not sure what any of that means but hopefully someone here will be able to throw some light on that for me. Two days after that phone call I had another one saying that the GP had arranged an appointment for me to see the Cardiac nurse. I believe the locum GP I saw stirred things up at the practice. Up to now I have been pretty much ignored but all of a sudden all this attention. Time will tell. I will keep you all informed.

Thinking of you all, and hoping everyone as pain free as possible.

Lol, no it wasn’t that hard in the end but I do have many a chuckle at how dumb this pred head has made me.

Hopefully you can counter your GP’s arguments with some robust ones of your own. I will leave it to the scientists to speculate on your blood test results. I sincerely hope that all your tests are fine and wish you well!

Stick with us. Apart from the very, very occasional aberration this forum is a very helpful place to be.

It most certainly is, over the last nine months I would have been totally clueless without this forum. Perhaps, not clueless, I like to think I would have done my research. But here on this forum we have some very capable people who do the research for us and ensure we have access to this information. The other great bonus is that we get to hear what is going on in other fellow sufferers lives which really goes a long way to letting us know we are not alone.
