Is anyone on the SCD diet or the GAPS diet?
I'd never heard of either so I have looked them up.

say all I'd say about them - and a lot more.
Good morning Aleish,
There are positive aspects to these diets because they reduce carbs. Since there are sooo many diet claims out there right now I just devised my own. It takes a while to keep track of what makes you feel best and eliminate food that show a pattern of coinciding with flares. Basically for me that means no processed food, grain, highly fermented cheese, limited dairy. I eat organic fruits and vegetables and protein.
Sadly (I mourn) red wine does make me flare. So, with me and GCA more like a reverse elimination diet has worked.
Best, fm
Your food intake seems to mirror mine. We somehow have lost the ability to break down so many foods. Although supplements of enzymes seem the way to go, I find they make me worse. I understand they are made through a fermentation process and we have difficulties with many fermentations..
Although SCD, GAP and FODMAP diets have been around awhile, there is now lots of info online that a FODMAP diet is being used successfully by people suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). About 75% of IBS sufferers are having positive results which is quite significant!
There is also info that some people with fibromyalgia are finding relief with a FODMAPS diet. Wouldn’t it be great if this turns out to be a clue about that condition.
I’ve often thought I should post about my diet experience. I’ve had lots of food issues and when the specialist I saw for my ACTH stimulation test suggested I try FODMAPs I decided to do it. My accelerated reduction in PMR stiffness, brain fog and prednisone has been pretty remarkable.
For anyone wanting to try this diet, I suggest you get the latest book by Patsy Catsos The IBS Elimation Diet - it’s easy to follow - and you should know if this is helpful for you.
For anyone who doesn't want to splash out on the book there are excellent articles about it online - free. This is one in simple language (and no fluff)

because it is important to remember that while the FODMAP diet may make you feel better, unless you do it properly you may end up not eating something you could be including and missing out on nutrients. It is proven in clinical trials to benefit some things - but the rememdy for IBS may not be what YOU need to improve PMR.
I have been doing FODMAP since 11/18. Its really helped me to discover what foods upset my digestion. I did elimination for 2 months and then started to do the rechallenge stage. I have found that I can't tolerate peas, sweetcorn, lactose, and beans of any type. Next test is for apples.
There's lots of info on the internet and also some apps to help you figure out what's high fodmap etc.
My gastroenterlogist approves of this diet for IBS and ibd. It is complicated until you get used to it. I have lost 6kg so far too which was a side effect I didn't expect
