I am on 20mg for pmr, this is the second month since diagnosed, l have had two episodes where l have had severe chest pain. Could this be due to prednisilone

Hello, I don’t think anyone can say. Yes, some people get things like costochondritis or spasm of muscles between the ribs both of which can be extremely painful. However, you do need to have other things ruled out such as cardiac involvement which needs to be nipped in the bud. So, a visit to the doc would be a good idea I think . Good luck 🙂
Hello Fifelassieo
Welcome 💐 as Snazzy D says you need your GP to check this out, there can be other explanations but it needs a Medics View.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks, l actually have an appointment with doctor today
Doctor time - do tell us what they say.
I had episodes of chest pain (not severe though) which coincided with palpitations and of course the GP would try to tell me it was pred. It wasn't, I'd had them with "just" PMR too and eventually it turned out it was atrial fibrillation and it is closely linked to my PMR.
But reflux can also cause chest pain - also not uncommon with pred.
My GP had told me to call 999 any time I had an episode - that way they have a better chance of getting an ECG tracing at the time of the pain. I've had an ECG that "wasn't right" done at the house - that had disappeared by the time I got to A&E!
It is likely because Pred is harsh on your insides, my husband called an ambulance when I had severe chest pain, as if I’d swallowed a large pebble and it was stuck, worryingly there was also pain in my jaw and teeth. Pretty sure it was an Oesophagus spasm now, it warns now and then but never as bad as the first time. All severe chest pain needs to be thoroughly checked out, even if you end up lying on a trolley in A&E ignored for hours, like I did.
It’s pretty scary! Oddly ordinary Rennies and sips of cold water help and breathe through the panic! Good luck!
