the gp wanted me to go back on the oxi 3xs a day while I work through this. My skin can not get warm it hurts unless I cover all up. I have been sleeping between 2 to 3 hours. Last night I got 6. Wonderful .... I am on my way to getting my new knees....... Anyone else had to go on oxi to get off morphine?

I’m just saying hello as I don’t have any advice for you. But I sincerely wish you well. Xxx

This is outside of my experience too. What is your condition ( s)?

You are weaning off morphine aren't you? As opposed to oxycontin which is also an opioid drug that causes dependency. I assume this is all due to withdrawal. It seems strange to me to put you back on an opioid drug to get you off it - unless he feels you have tapered the morphine dose too fast and wants to try again more slowly. It does take some days and mostly they indicate that the symptoms have to be got through but I don't know much about it. It does sound as if it is improving if you slept better.

Have you discussed it with the doctor - to understand how he is thinking if nothing else?

I was on 15mg 3x a day for years.............I worked very hard to get down to 7.5 mg 3x a day this has been a med I have been on so I could walk. My PMR % GC I have had it for almost 17 years. I went down to 2 a day then one a day took over a year and a half. Then 7.5 1 every other day. And now none. I had been off of the oxi for a couple years. Now I had to go back on . This PMR & GC is not gone yet. Since I drop down on the pred. to 2MG I now had to go back up to 7mg for now. The cold intolerance is out of control. My hypothyroidism is so out of control. The Tinnitus is not helping my sleep ..... the sound in my ear is like swishing to the count of my blood pumping. So in a nut shell many things have gotten worse.the sound in ear will not stop. I found in medical books that this is can be part of GC. I do not like to go on about my self. Maybe these notes will reach some one with same problems. thanks so much for writing

I think hearing and ear problems can be part of GCA. In fact there is supposed to be a study going on to find out how much people's ears are affected by PMR/GCA.

And this is a safe place to talk about how you feel. Hugs. 🤗

It's possible the oxycontin has a different kind of half life in the body and eases the tapering process. nhms.org/sites/default/file...
