Spider vein injections and PMR/pred

Just wondering if anyone has had this done while on pred?

My concern is that skin is thinner and bruises more easily...and I’d hate to end up with more of a mess than what I started with (spider veins on both legs, no varicose veins). Had them injected 12 years ago with great results.

How much does it bother you darling? I decided to live with mine and I use a cream that puts colour on my legs that gradually fades. The veins don’t bother me these days I just ignore them but if they bother you then for sure follow it up. Good luck gorgeous xxx

I didn’t care much either the last 5 years or so either. My OH’s daughter works for an airline and got us 2 tickets for Christmas and we are likely heading to Miami sometime in Feb. and when I looked down at my legs recently while at the pool, I thought about possibly having it done again. BUT, not if it will have an adverse effect in any way! With my recent weight loss I figure folks will be checking out my new curves and not focusing too much on my legs (kidding) 👀😍👙🔥

I agree. Killer curves will rule. Legs will tan. Look it’s totally a personal decision. I guess my position is don’t rock the boat but that’s silly. If your veins upset you that’s valid. Sorry I can’t help more xxxxxx

I would take medical advice first ,I know nothing about this but be sure before you embark that it is the right thing to do .

Will do. I will ask when I get re-assessed at the vein clinic. I will also ask my GP.

I had it done before and after GCA/PMR and Pred. After...the result was not as good. Two of the veins disappeared for a length of the vein, but left (toward the end of the vein) a not nice place which was purple-ish. I think that if I had gone back within a couple of weeks, that part of the vein could have been injected and would have lost the purple color. This has even happened to me "before." My vein guy is an old surgeon who is doing this for a living, thinking that he is too old to continue with surgery. So--I've done it with improvement, and I believe if I had been more on top of it, it would have been as perfect as it generally was "before."

Have you been told by the Vascular Clinic that that would be your only option to get rid of them or is it something you are considering personally?

Where are they and how much do they stick out ?

Do they cause alot of pain?

I know you are happy with trying alternatives so have you had any massage or oil and nutritional therapy yet to reduce it ?

I have some info on massage techniques , exercise and oil combinations that can help reduce them but I will wait to send them to you until I know if you have already tried them but not had any help.

I do know think that unless I medically had to have them removed at the moment to improve my circulation or they were causing considerable pain which was making the PMR worse , I would do it. I personally, would wait on having any injection therapy until I had got through near the end of the PMR journey.

There are issues with infection , recovery time and causing flares in your PMR that can come with even small invasive procedures when you are on steroids , so any unnecessary surgical work is usually best avoided. But it's all about balance.

As I always say , everyone is different and you need to get all the information and do what's right for you.
